BF1 (PC) Can Not Connect to On Line Multiplayer Games

After the most recent updates of both BF1 and Origin I am unable to play a multiplayer game on line. I am on a PC, Windows 10, Fall Creators Update. I am using a wired connection to a router. I have tried all of the initial and more complex technical troubleshooting solutions including flushing the DNS cache, rebooting the router, the computer, ensuring all ports are properly forwarded and more. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Origin including the registry keys. There is no difference. Origin starts and logs in with no difficulty. Other games can be played on line (non-EA) are fine. But BFI and BF1 CTE will not connect on line.  Suggestions appreciated.

    I have no other EA software on any other machine and as I have a download cap of 130 GB/mo, I'll not blow it by downloading 64 GB of BF1 for that again on another machine And with a max speed of 10 Meg down, 64 GB takes nearly 24 hours to download. Not in this universe.

    I did try to log in again through Origin.again yesterday and the game itself updated and ran. I was able to get on line. But it should not be that hard in the first place. I should not have had to reformat my drive, reload my operating system and download the damn game again to solve the problem that no one seems to have a clue how to fix. That others are experiencing it seems to suggest there is an issue here. I just happen to be skilled enough to use the nuclear option and patience enough to restore my system.  That I had to do that does not give me much confidence in EA, at all.

  •  ** UPDATE **

    After digging further through the forums here, it turns out that re-activating Windows Defender automatically switches Controlled Folder Access back on. Here's the post that pointed out the problem.

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Windows-10-and-Controlled-folder-access-An-FYI/m-p/6408081#M23388

    I'm having the same issue. I've tried every technical support solution in the EA support tools. Also on a PC, Windows 10, Fall Creator's Update. I've tried permissions, flushing DNS, router settings, disabling firewall, resetting firewall settings, clean booting, opening ports, reinstalling Origin and Battlefield 1, etc. I can only think of 2 things. I had temporarily enabled the new Controlled Folder Access functionality and had since disabled it. However, this problem happened after the latest BF1 update, independently of any Windows updates or program installations.

    In the logs I can see that it's hitting the cloud save service and syncing, and I can ping all the servers referenced as well, but I do see a series of errors sprinkled in the logs like these:

    108 [2017-11-15 04:06:48.376] Error Origin::Services::OriginServiceResponse::logReplyError 9760 OriginServiceResponse QNetworkReply error code [99] error string : [Unknown error] HTTP status code [0] X-Origin-Ops [] XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    **109 [2017-11-15 04:06:48.376] Error Origin::Services::OriginServiceResponse::reportTelemetry 9760 Failed with REST error code -1 error string: Unknown error

    144 [2017-11-15 04:06:52.450] Event Origin::Client::PageErrorDetector::networkRequestFinished 9760 Load Error 256 (HTTP status 400) for host: accounts.ea.com

    I attached a version of the log that displays after a clean install of Origin.

  • A new version of Origin is out. This does not fix this issue. Still can't go on line to play multiplayer.

  • After reinstalling Windows 10 and redownloading the game, I still have this problem.

    Hey @dks01,

    do you have any chance to try and log in to your account on another machine? Just to check if it's working there. Also did you check the Controlled Folder Access settings called out above? That sound like it might help, especially if you reinstalled your OS already.
