i checked and it was already in win XP compatablity mode and i will run a test now with all permissions added in administration mode

i tested it and even with the patch installed INSTANT ACTION for singleplayer STILL doesnt work i doubt its because of WIN defender on cause ive given this game every perimission i know of  when i hit start it freezes in that menu and when i ran it without patch as far as i know it sent me to desktop and then after a few seconds of trying to click on the window the computer said i had to close the program

Hi, I've tried everything, on this thread and a few others. For me, it makes absolutely no difference. I recently upgraded my PC, now I have a Ryzen 2600 and RX 480 and new HDDs SSD... BF1942 worked before but now it just loads a black loading screen and a small bar appears on the upper left corner. Is there anything else I could try? I REALLY WANT TO PLAY BF1942.

I have a similar problem.  Just got a new PC.  BF1942 worked on my old one and now not the new one.  I am playing the game through Origin I should mention.  I click the game to play and all i get is a black screen and then I get taken back to my desktop with no error message or anything.  I really hope we can find a solution!!

What's the lowest resolution you can set your monitor to

because Battlefield 1942 in the beginning needs a monitor that support 800 by 600.

if that's good make sure the Microsoft game DVR is off.

now it's time to check what version of Battlefield 1942 you have.

there are two versions cd rom or origin download you can check if you have that.

Your game will be installed in the following path.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games if you see a folder named battlefield 1942

you got the origin version

in that case you only need to patch up the master server.

with this patch http://team-simple.org/download/battlefield_1942_gamespy_patch_v1.61.exe

However if your game is installed in the following path.

C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES if you see a folder named battlefield 1942

you got the cd rom version.

you need to fully patch up your game.

if battlefield 1942 still doesn't work after all this then you're against the hard to find problem.

make sure you don't have any screen overlay programs installed,

like overwolf for teamspeak or any overlay programs that are turn on by your graphical driver

turn all off if that still doesn't work out

the game could not be starting up because of numerous issues
this can relate to problems with direct play or problems with resolution or even not being fully patched up.

As a former battlefield 1942 player, I was experiencing the same problem as written above. interesting thing is that I am using windows 7?!
