BF4 - Are we allowed to restrict players to a certain number of sniper weapons?

Hi,

I am seeing multiple ranked BF4 servers running with "No snipers allowed" and a Procon script for recognizing the first player kill (likely the weapon event) that the recon with the sniper weapon does and taking action upon that event.

Some servers do a sequence of  warn, warn, kick/kill.

Some servers just do a instant kill.

Some servers allow a squad or a small number of players (limitationsof weapons per teams) to have a sniper weapon while others are warned/killed/kicked.

The Rules of Conduct and TOS are unclear on this point in BF4, they were much clearer in BF3 as is seen in this discussion for BF3 on consoles.

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-3/Are-we-allowed-to-restrict-users-from-using-certain-weapons/td-p/24250/page/3

My questions, reiterated.

  1. Are server administrators allowed to limit to no sniper weapons at all on a ranked server under RoC and TOS?
  2. Are server administrators allowed to limit to only a certain number of weapons on a ranked server under ROC and TOS?

Best regards,

Lars/Lan

    Hey everyone,

If you feel the admins of rental servers are violating the Battlefield 3 Rules of Conduct (which apply to ALL soldiers on the Battlefield), report them by following the information in this link:

    https://help.ea.com/article/bf3-rules-of-conduct [help.ea.com]

We can investigate any irregularities in the administration of the server and take appropriate action.

Note: Restricting the use of certain weapons on a map is not a violation (especially if they are doing it to help maintain balance and have provided warnings in the welcome screen or server description). However, knife/pistol only servers are specifically designed to unbalance the game and boost. Those should be reported.

An important point: EA does NOT tolerate hatespeech of any kind. This would include negative comments regarding race, religion, sexual orientation, physical/mental disability or nationality. That being said, should you find yourself kicked with a reason that could be considered hatespeech, immediately report them. Thank you.

  • Hey Lars

To my understanding the server admin CANNOT set up such rules without breaking the rules of conduct.

Please accept solutions if they are correct and press the XP button if somebody helped you. This way you case will show as "Solved" thus helping others with the same problem.

    Kind regards, Tviggah

    Hi tviggah!

Thanks for the reply, I presumed as much but as I am new to the EA answer HQ, I hope you are not offended when I ask if you can provide sources or written statements by EA officials to this point?

I would very much like this clarified officially to use as a quote on several forums where this question is very volatile (the abilitiy and/or desire to restrain sniper weapons).

    My apologies in advance!
