Re: [RESOLVED] Battlefield 4 Server Renewal Issues on PlayStation

Hello - We've been unable to rent servers on Playstation for Battlefield 4. Could you please let us know if this is a bug, or is EA is phasing out support for online Playstation servers.

There's a strong community that still plays. It would be a shame to shut it down. We hope you take this into consideration.

Would love to see EA be respectful to the community by continuing to allow its fan to play the games they love. And doing so by keeping the ability to rent servers for Battlefield 4.

I am also concerned about how this situation is coming about, and am watching very closely.  I’ll get straight to the point, even though I could be wrong, but there is a perception in the community that bf4 on psn is being quietly sun-downed.  If so, why? Transparency for one, will help keep me onboard as a customer. I’m highly interested in the next bf… but if there’s some bs reason why we’re losing access to our servers and I lose the ability to play my favorite title online, EA will lose my business forever. Complete boycott. I hope I’m wrong though. Just remember, perception is a MF to beat.

Bumping this. We deserve an official response AND an immediate fix from EA.

I'm an Xbox player and this doesn't affect me directly but please, we need an official response and a fix regarding this. Is this just a bug? Or are you guys genuinely sunsetting BF4? You have dedicated fans that have stuck with you and are playing a game that's over 10 years old and it's a real disservice and slap in the face to the your loyal fans to shut this down. Also, I am really excited for the new Battlefield, however if BF4 (whether only on PSN or not) is shut down, I will definitely be reevaluating my decision and not purchasing it, no matter how good it may be.

If I can play BF4 on my phone with game pass ultimate -- then the folks on PS should be able to rent servers and keep playing on their respective consoles. There isn't any excuse for this and it looks like EA is quietly shuttering service for BF4 on PlayStation. This sets the precedent that Xbox servers aren't far behind PS servers. Let's hope we're wrong and it's a mistake.

Battlefield 4 is best practice for old-schooled fans of franchise. Keeping it alive would mean keeping old-schooled part of your community coming back to give you support (money and show other communities deep seated dedication within franchise).

BF4 PC player here. Shutting down BF4 on PS would demonstrate a degree of contempt by EA for BF fans that would make it difficult for me to continue to support the franchise in any capacity. There would appear to be little to no reason to do this, other than to push BF4 players to play the new BF title. After losing a decade of BF3 profile data when it was sundowned on console, for reasons that still elude me, I worry that EA does not and will not take the desires of its player base seriously. Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect EA to continue to support BF3 for decades, but I cannot see why that profile data couldn't have been retained considering Battlelog is still available for BF3 on PC. It just seems like the publisher and franchise is going in the wrong direction :(

From 2019-Present, Battlefield 4 has become my favorite videogame of all time. I slowly get better and better at it and love to play Hardcore on PS4. This is a valuable tight nit community with passionate fans.

I’ve played (and still actively play) BF4 on PS since its release day, along with BF3. I’ve bought every single Battlefield title, even 2042…but if one of the best titles in the series, the only one I personally still play and know has a very dedicated community, gets shut down for no reason, then there’s no way I’d even think about purchasing any future Battlefield, let alone EA titles. I know I’m just one person saying this, but I also know that after 2042 and the reception it received from the fans it was supposed to please (the BF3&4 fans) if this happens, I won’t be alone in boycotting.

I’ve got over a decade of memories playing BF4, and it’s one of the few 10+ year old FPS games with this many active players that I’m able to go back and relive some of those moments in. Really hoping this is just a mistake.

Man I was just getting back into this game after playing it on and off for years. Say it louder for the people in the back: NO, DICE, KILLING BF4 IS NOT GOING TO DRIVE US TO 2042

(EDIT: they care) You've got to be some insensitive MFs to shutdown without word one if not THE most loved BF game, EA. Nevermind your legal terms and such, show some humanity, people. It costs your face more by saying nothing rather than saying something. And you're already scarred by all the drama you've accrued over time. It's thanks to these decisions. Small community, who cares, right? Please.

There are independent server hosting companies on bf4 on pc. Unless there is some microsoft/Sony **bleep**ery, sending them server files should come at no extra costs if bf4 is planned to be abandonned

Publicly releasing server files for self hosted servers would be as awesome as unlikely

Phasing out servers like this sounds racist (& extremely classist too) i really hope ea gets their act together.

They even failed to provide a game up to bf3 and 4 standards we might as well consider looking into other games 👎
