BF4 lags to unplayable FPS rates after a minute, help!

So whether it is campaign or multiplayer battlefield 4 will start to lag after exactly a minute, I used to be able to play this game but a few months back but some reason now like I said for a whole minute the game will run at about 25-30 fps depends on part of the map or whats happening and this is on medium-low settings, but then after that it becomes are slide presentation of the game basically, the FPS is that bad.

I have a Alienware M14x which is about 3-4 years old now but still the game has been running fine till awhile ago.

Any help would be great guys.

Also sorry but I tried looking for a case close to mine.

Other info:

GPU: Geforce GT 650m

CPU: Intel Core I7 @2.70GHz

15.88 GB of RAM

And all drivers upto date.

@wiltonwild Hey, it sounds like things may be heating up and things are being throttled. Can you try monitoring temperatures, then see if there's a big spike before performance starts to drop?

You might want to check the vents too, laptops can get clogged up fairly easily, especially over a good length of time.

Thanks, let us know how you get on.

Yeah everything seems fine I even have a cooling pad to use incase my laptop heats up. Just been bugging me not knowing why it does this.

  • Try going to Nvidia control panel - 3d settings - program tab and choose battlefield 4. Now switch the "power mode" between performance and quality and see how that affects things.

Try reverting to driver version 362.00 there is a FPS bug in the later drivers, but then alt tabbing in and out should affect the fps if this

See the top post in this thread (Link) doesnt appear to be fixed in 365.10 either

I believe 600 series cards are affected by this

@wiltonwild in addition to rolling back to the earlier version of the drivers like @proxos666 stated, can you also check to see if you have origin in game enabled (it's enabled by default) as it causes low FPS and sometimes lag. If it is enabled disable it and try playing again to see if the problem persists.

To turn off Origin in game log into Origin, in the upper left hand corner click on the word "Origin" in the menu, and then click on "Application Settings". Next go to the "Origin in game" tab and uncheck the "enable Origin in game" box.
