BF4 Launch from Battlelog?

I'm trying & failing to understand why Battlefield 4 went from an easy to launch game, by just pressing the play button to launch the game, to having to open a browser to Battlelog and launch the game this way.

What caused the game to be forced to launch with this procedure and why make it so hard for returning players who played 3+ years prior and now having no clue on what to even do.

Trying to launch any .exe in the game directory causes the browser to launch on the battlelog and even attempting to start either a multiplayer match or even campaign causes a very useless guide to pop up on how to launch the game but all it really describes is to turn on/off some settings or install/open Origin.

If trying to launch the game normally ends up opening a browser, then why not just make the game be played on the browser instead of us having to download the game just for the files to open a browser and not launch the game.

I know this sounds like i'm ranting, but this change is really what has killed the game for me since the launching procedure for the game went from a simple click of the play button to a complete mess where you have to go through so many steps just to launch the game each and every time that it is better to just throw the game away or send it a a Dead Game folder just to remove it from sight.

  • It is not possible for me, regardless if I try launching from Origin or by the .exe, it will always take me to battlelog and I have tried all available info that I looked up and nothing works.

EA doesn't get it fixed to fix bugs. Battlelog has not worked properly for months. Presumably EA doesn't want to fix the problem. We gamers miss them anyway. The main thing is to collect money, nothing more.
  • Battlelog has always worked perfectly for me , you always have to make sure the OriginWebHelper Service is running though.

@decimal4000 I prefer the old way because its simple, I don't want the experience to be thrown out to a browser and make it extremely complicated just to even launch the game entirely. I just don't see what was wrong with it being simple and I dpn't see why it has to be thrown to battlelog just to play. some people like that but most people don't and I see no merit to have people suffer for a complicated way to start the game.

I mean, it was already in the game where you can find a server and start a match easily or play campaign before without having to go through this whole mess. Instead of forcing it to the players, why not have it as an option in the game and not just do what they have already done. Is it really that hard for them to do or did they just not care how people who return to the game and not know how to even start the game, and get sent to battlelog which then the players turn away from the game because they did not agree to the changes with no information about why it was even done and not have the option to have the old way back.
  • It sucks I know, but they made it to origin or ea play now.  Battlelog was done for after BF1, I wish they would bring battlelog back.

Sorry if misunderstanding you but are you saying you prefer to use Battlelog ? if so its still up and running and is better than the newer battlefield in game menu especially when trying to find out why kicked or game crashes

  • @OtherACTION There are two methods to launch BF4, the original browser based Battlelog method from 2013, and the later BF4 in game UI where you launch the game and then use the in game server browser to find matches.

If right clicking the Bf4 icon in Origin and selecting "play" does not launch BF4 then run a repair on BF4 by right clicking the game in Origin selecting "repair". Afterwards I recommend to clear your Origin client's cache as described here; https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/ and then try starting the game again.
