  • Hi, when it crashes does it give any error? Any further details could help on your problem.

    These are some common fixes:

-make sure that you've updated your drivers to latest version

-Do a repair install of the game in Origin. In origin right click your game and from drop down choose repair install.

    -Reinstall Punkbuster.
    Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4 and select pbsv.exe . Choose 'reinstall'

    Install advice for Punkbuster https://help.ea.com/uk/article/punkbuster-technical-issues

    - make sure that your firewall/anti virus isn't preventing the game, Punkbuster or Origin from launching.
Also check the quality of your internet connection.

    -Run the game as ADMINISTRATOR.

-Go to the games folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4) and find Bf4.exe.

Right click it and go to PROPERTIES, then COMPATIBILITY and tick the box next to RUN THIS PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR.
Do the same with BF4_x86.exe as well.

    -Disable Origin in game.
In Origin - Application settings - Origin in Game - disable Origin in game

    -Run Origin as Administrator
Right click on Origin.exe and go to properties. Then go to compatability tab and tick the box next to RUN AS ADMIN.

    -Reinstall DirectX.
    1:go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\directx\redist
2:Find file named DXSETUP.exe and double click it (while connected to the internet). Install it. It should update your DirectX install.
3: You might need to reboot computer first.
    4: try to launch game.

    -Reinstall C++ redistributables.
    1:go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\vc\vc2012Update3\redist
2: Double click vcredist_x64.exe/ vcredist_x86.exe and follow onscreen prompts.

    -Update your Microsoft .NET framework.

I know its a long list of things to try but they might help you out. If they do then please leave a comment/XP point

I did all the thing that were in that post and it still doesn't work, when trying to join anything it puts up a window that says:
    Battlefield 4 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available.

  • Hi, what are your PC specs?

Are you sure you can actually run the game?

This has been happening to many users since the last patch dropped. Open your task browser, kills the bf4.exe if it's still turned on and restart the game.  Unfortunately this is the only way to fix this problem until DICE patches it again.

Did it, still is like "You ain't gonna play this game. Nope"
Should i just wait for the new patch maybe?

  • This problem started for me today. I have been running the game since launch and never had this problem before today.

I have not installed or modified any programs, I patched on Jan 30th and have played daily since. It ran fine yesterday.

They problem is not a crash as such, the blue bar appears stating "Joining server", bf4.exe starts up in task manager. There is no cloud sinc and the blue message bar just disappears and bf4.exe terminates without an error.

I have reinstalled punkbuster, tried repair installation, tried running origin and bf4 as admin, reinstalled the C++ redist and done a dns flush as well as rebooting several times and trying to launch from IE, Firefox and Chrome.

    Hi,

The only thing that worked for me was:

    · Uninstall Origin

    · Delete all Origing content located in: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Origin

    · reinstall Origin

Problem was, of course, origing malfunction, nor the web plug-in, nor the game, nor C++ redistributables...

In that forder was stored some kind of cache with origin preferences which was what "originated" the problem.

Some clues to know if you have a similar issue than I did:

    - Once you press 'joing game' Origin window pop up trying to get focus but then nothing happen (game do not start)

    - You reinstall origin and It still remember your account after reinstall(probably works like that for everybody) but is indeed anoying that after uninstalling some origin info is not deleted.

    Good Luck!

  • I've now had this problem for a few weeks all of a sudden since the DT expansion came out.  I've tried everything including:

I ran BF4 just fine with no system changes since launch all the way up until the day Dragon's teeth launched for premium members (Jul 15, 2014), I remember logging in, running around and checking out the new maps that day and then didn't touch BF4 again until last week. The only thing different that I did was update my AMD drivers to 14.7 RC3 which I have reinstalled and has made no difference (I have no trouble running Diablo 3, Watch Dogs, etc).

    I am running a i7 4770K 32 GB Ram Windows 8.1 Professional system with Asus R9 280X x2 cards in Crossfire with 14.7 RC3 drivers dated Aug 14, 2014.

I have tried Chrome (32 bit), Firefox, IE to launch, to the same effect and uninstalled and reinstalled the battlelog plugin on each platform and reset the browsers and cache to no effect.

I have uninstalled BF4 twice and painfully reinstalled the 25GB installation to no effect.

I have tried a repair of the game a few times... this tends to crash Origin at the end of the verification -- that's the main anomaly that I note, but it doesn't fix the issue.

I have reinstalled Punkbuster through the website and through the BF4 installation and verified that Punkbuster A & B are running in services - no effect

I run Malwarebytes Pro 1.7 and Kaspersky Antivirus. I have uninstalled these and verified while they are active that Punkbuster, Origin, BF4 are all allowed (my 2nd computer with a nVidia GTX 680 has the same software setup so I don't think it is this as that computer runs fine).

I have checked my router, cleared my UPNP cache, tried manual port forwarding, but I don't think that is it either and 2 other computers on my network can launch and play BF4 just fine through the same router and all three could at one time.

I have reinstalled the visual C libraries as provided in the BF4 folder and also installed direct X

Windows 8.1 informs me that my .NET 4.5 framework is baked into the OS and does not need to be installed

I have disabled all overlays (Raptr by AMD), am not running any third party overclocking tools, and disabled Origin's in game overlay

Titanfall runs fine from Origin, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled Origin's client twice. I've selected beta releases, and deslected that too on different installs and it makes no difference.

I performed a UATrace route to EA servers and all my pings are < 60 ms from node to node and I get to EA's servers just fine (I have a 30 Mbps connection)

I created a new Windows 8.1 profile and tried to launch it from that profile, same result

I deleted my Screen shot and settings from User Documents, same problem, can even run BF4.exe long enough for new settings to be generated again

Clean booted my PC with only Microsoft services running everything else disabled. Same result.

I disabled my AMD audio drivers (I have Realtek Asus Extreme 6 Z87 onboard audio), no effect.

I disabled Origin Cloud saving, no effect.

To date, BF4 launches (In joining a multiplayer game, starting a Test Range, or starting a single player campaign) has CPU activity for < 30 seconds, then drops to 0 CPU activity, holds onyo ~50-60MB of allocated ram, generates no error in application or system events, and just hangs until the process is manually terminated. Rebooting doesn't break this process.

I've talked to EA and they said they don't know what to do anymore

I don't know if there is anything left to do!

EA is it time to write me a check for the $100 for a game I cannot start?

If anyone else has any similarities please do tell as maybe there's a commonality that we share in this thread
