Also got the update required message. Updated and can now only play in single player mode. I actually uninstalled and reinstalled the game and updated PB but still no good. Any suggestions?

Finally figured it out. I had gotten a note in email from EA about " Changes to Your Battlefield Experiences" . For the new UI I have to go to
battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4 then I can launch from there. Just double clicking on the icon only brings me to single player now...Thanks for answering
