As previous users reported.. I capitalized upon, I believe I may have isolated the issue.
One user had said to put PnkbusterA and PnkbusterB into compatibility mode, (prefferably Windows 7) as well as administrator priviliges. I had done this last night before I retired. Essentially, it finished loading, and the game started to generate what looked to be a spawn point inside a building.
At this point the screen was the loading screen, but with a 50% opacity, the other bit was as I said the spawn point.
That gave me hope.
This morning, it went back to doing what it was doing. I ran the PBSVC diagnostic, it was reporting that Pbuster had not obtained full explicit control. So, basically Punkbuster cannot do its job due to some entity restricting its access to my PC.
I went ahead and disabled ALL antivirus, firewall, and proxies. There were no variables to restrict Punkbusters access to the internet and or my PC. It still was unable to connect, thus it has to be something else.
I think it is the ATI/AMD Driver, because now I am trying to REINSTALL punkbuster, unfortunately it will not even connect to the update server. So something is keeping Punkbuster from connecting....
@EA wanna pay me commission? I did the work of your IT department...
Recap: The issue lies with A: Punkbuster, B: Sound Card, C: AMD drivers.
- Anonymous13 years agoI was able to connect to the pb update yesterday by following the instructions on the page for pbsetup.exe. When it says you have to first put pbsetup.exe in its own folder, it means first. When I redownloaded the .exe and put it in its own folder, I was able to update pbsetup.exe and get the files for bf4 on downloaded.
