That's odd that he doesn't show up in Game.
Have both of you tried repairing the Game Files in Origin, and re-launching Battlefield 1?
I haven't experienced this issue before with not being able to see friends Online in Game.
Sometimes it's kinda tricky, but you may have to just Invite each other through the Origin Launcher.
@iluminatetheskyThat's what we have to do in order to play. The problem seems to happen only to him though. And yes, we both repaired the game.
I apologize about that, it seems as though joining through Origin would be the only workaround for this at the moment.
