Compatibility issues.

Hi guys i have a lower end laptop and was wondering if i could run battlefield 4. I am getting very mixed results from online forums and websites. Websites like can you run it say i cant while others on forums say they are running it with the same GPU. I have a i5-3337u processor and Intel hd 4000 GPU with 6GB ram. I don't care if I only get 10fps (im used to that) just wondering if i can run it. Any help is appreciated.

  • According to minimal requirements? No (not even close). In reality?

Well, 6 GB RAM is enough (I had 6 GB on my laptop in the past and BF4 worked, with a bit of spare room). Your GPU would've probably been enough to run the game on all-low with resolution heavily downscaled(or close to it). CPU is well below the minimal requirements though, so, while I generally believe in minimal requirements being overblown, this still should be way too much for your CPU to handle.

So, in the end, I don't see your chances of running the game at all at more than 10-15%.

Websites always said my cpu was fine but the gpu was the problem. My cpu is turbo charged so it runs at 2.7ghz so it's not terrible, also  I thought gpu is more important for gaming?

So basically what you are saying is it will run just not that well?

  • Well, if you turbocharge it, then that matter should be taken care of to some extent... and about that GPU, what I am using is Nvidia Geforce GT520M which is quite dreadful on its own. With a quad core CPU and 8 GB RAM on top of that I get 30-40 FPS on all-low with resolution downscaled to 60-65%. Looking purely at the numbers, it should mean that your Intel would probably run it if you downscale the res even further, but Intel GPU's are notorious for not running games at all. So, while I suspect that it would run the game if you butcher the settings, I am far from being sure about it.

One way or another, you can do the following thing: buy BF4, and if it doesn't work, then request a refund. You can find more info about it here https://www.origin.com/en-us/great-game-guarantee

That aside, as a fellow gamer stuck with a garbage GPU, I really recommend upgrading as soon as possible... that's what I'm planning to do in September, at least, BF4 might juuuust run, but pretty much anything newer certainly will not.

Hello @Dio305 Check in Origin Free games - Trials - BF4 on 7 Days FREE )))

    Good Luck )

  • From my own experience, there are 3 places that you might want to try out for worst case scenarios - A-B flag area on Golmud Railway, Siege of Shanghai after Levolution and Dragon Valley from free Legacy Ops DLC. Framerate is the worst there.
