Copying Already Installed Files to Skip Download

So, I recently purchased Battlefield 1. My friend already owns and has Battlefield 1 installed.
I have tried everything I can to use his files to skip having to download almost 50GB on my own PC, to no avail.

Starting the download on my PC, pausing it, exiting Origin, then copy pasting his files over my install and restarting Origin - does not work.

Backing up the registry entries on his PC, modifying the directories to point to mine, and importing them on my PC - does not work.

All I want to do is avoid downloading 50GB on my excruciatingly slow internet connection when I have files on a disk that are perfectly fine. Why does Origin refuse to read and accept these files as already downloaded?

If you are transferring from your friend's PC to yours, see below:

Follow the steps below EXACTLY and you will be able to do so:

    1. Copy the game folder (i.e "Battlefield 1") to an external drive (or USB drive)
    2. Once transferred re-name the folder "Copy of ..."
    3. Connect the drive to the PC you wish to install the game on
    4. Transfer the folder to the drive that you are planning on installing the game to ( the C drive, D drive, etc)
    5. Open up your Origin Client
    6. Right-click on the game you want to download / install and select "Download"
    7. Let the download go for about 30-60 sec and hit "Pause" (or the Pause symbol)
    8. Find the folder on the drive that it is downloading to
    9. Open up the folder that the games are in and delete ALL files in that folder, but LEAVE THE FOLDER THERE
    10. Now go to the folder you transferred from the external source (Copy of ...) and select and copy ALL the files inside that folder (not the folder itself)
    11. Go to the folder that Origin created and you just deleted the files from and Paste the files from the "Copy of ..." folder
    12. Go back to your Origin Client and press resume on the download
    13. It will now take a min or two and then your download will jump to 100% and install the game
    14. Enjoy!!!
