There is no user level fix for the counterknife beyond resetting your router, and if on console doing a hard reset of the console. The Counterknife used to work consistently but then it seemed to get more and more random where if sometimes one hits the counter knife button you still get knifed. Lag or latency could be part of the problem. On which platform are you? If you are on PC perhaps binding the knife button to one of your mouse buttons will help.
