I am using 4850 but also got this error and can't play with the game. Bus width of 4850 is also 256-bit. Sorry but I don't understand your theory.
I have mentioned in the other threads a few times (since beta) that if a card is not supported, the game should prompt a dialog and say "Sorry. Your card is not supported." instead of throwing a DirectX error like m_buffer, E_INVALIDARG, etc.
Unfortunately no one has clearly clarified what's really happening so far. Many good gamers told me that I should wait and EA would fix it in the production release. Results? Ha.

when it isn't.
You have not got the same graphics card so even though you have the same
error, the problem could be different.
Try installing previous drivers. AMD already stopped support for pre-HD 5000
cards in their catalyst drivers and the latest driver for that cards is 13.04.
