Can you hit esc, go to options, audio and is there a music volume option that you can turn all the way down?
No, you can't!
There are MASTER and VOIP volume options only.
BF3 doesn't have this option either, but the music isn't as incredibly persistent , and not as loud.

I'm so annoyed wit the music that actually tried to figure out myself how to disable it through system files.
Through internet research i found out that there is the main file for all user configuration called PROFSAVE_profile.If you have WIN7, it is here:
C:\Users\......your user name....\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings
If you open it with WORDPAD you can see the command line which supposedly controls the game music volume:
GstAudio.MusicVolume 0.700000
I changed the value to 0 but nothing changes in game.
There is another command:
GstAudio.Volume 0.680000
Which controls your master volume and changing it's value actually works.
If you put to 0 (sound off) or 1 (max sound), you can see the slider of master volume changes accordingly in game menu.
(you have to change the values while the game isn't running)But no matter what value I was giving to music volume command, nothing changed.
Please help if somebody knows something!By the way i contacted EA customer support and they said if the developers intended to make the game without feature to turn the music off, then i have to play with music. - nice touch!
Sorry if you find my identical posts in other threads, I'm trying to post anywhere it's appropriate to get as much attention as possible.
Maybe one day the developers will understand what inconvenience they caused and give us some solution.
