I am thinking about purchasing the deluxe addition of Battlefield 4. I however am confused because I know that in game if you purchase a dlc it gives you premium cases and tags. I am wondering if you get the dlc with the game do you automatically get in game premium (not the premium edition of the game)?
No, you don't. Purchasing a DLC only unlocks maps, weapons and assignments connected to that DLC, it is not supposed to give you Premium battlepacks.
Meanwhile, Premium gives access to all the DLC's (with their assignments and weapons), but also enables some Premium-only features, such as special dogtags, extra battlepacks and extra Assignments (Phantom program).
In your case, buying Deluxe edition will grant you the base game, China Rising DLC and 3 gold battlepacks. What gives you all the DLC's and extra gimmicks is either buying base BF4 and then Premium or ordering BF4 Premium Edition.
