Don't Let the Flame Die Out!

Over the past year or so I have started to notice a large drop in players playing Battlefield 1. Now this is mostly understandable, as the game was released going on 5 years ago, game's populations have to decrease sooner or later. But it is rather depressing to see such a fantastic game slowly wither away, while other games like BF4 and BFV still thrive with full servers everywhere. I fear that BF2042 will be the final nail in the coffin for this beloved game, finally drawing away the remaining active players. Thus, I am making this post as a message to help keep our battlefield still alive! Dont let BF1 die!

And no, my inability to find servers has nothing to do with my server search settings, as I have no presets/settings activated.

  • @PSJackman4 This is natural as people move on to new titles, but I'm sure a core group would keep playing for as long as they're able to (even Hardline still has active players).

Haven't had any problems finding servers on my Xbox though. What are your pre-sets out of interest, and what platform do you play on?
  • I still see active US and EU servers. But I have seen a decline in ppl playing recently. Here in the US summer is here, Covid restrictions are being lifted and ppl are going back to work. I'm sure when BF2042 comes out ppl will leave. But I think there will always be a decent core of players remaining. I really have no interest in the new game since it'll be a modern shooter. It would have to absolutely knock my socks off for me to be even slightly interested.

  • I don't have any presets on currently, I have checked multiple times. Im on PS4 in the USA, I only find like 1-2 full servers of the current rotation, and sometimes ill find an operations game.

  • I'm on PS4 and there are still plenty of full servers to be had here in the US. I'm 99% a Conquest player so I can't comment on other game mode populations.

I'm a BF1 lifer. This is the best game i've ever played in my life (53 years) and will be playing it until it can no longer be played.

Like you, OP, I really don't know if I can get into a modern/futuristic (BF6) shooter. The historical aspect of BF1 is what endears me to this game. It's a masterpiece.

I might give BF6 a shot, but for the most part I view BF6 with dread, as I probably won't like it and it will probably hasten the decline of the BF1 player base.

    Hope I'm wrong.

    p.s. @PSJackman4 ,

Not sure what exactly you mean by "presets/settings", but you DO have one of your slots set to NONE don't you?

I'm sure you know this, but this will allow you to see all full active servers and the you can just queue up and wait for a spot.

    PS4 player here.

During the week, there are usually 4-5 Operation games filled in the US.  More so on the weekends.  There’s a surprising number of international players on the US servers. Usually European; but, lately many Middle East players. Occasionally I join a European server because I get tired of the same old maps playing in the US. My internet is so slow that I try not to do that too often.

I just click on a full game and wait till someone drops out. Most of the time it’s just before their side loses, LOL. So I earn a quick loss for a couple minutes of play.  Still, I’m in and am part of the next game.

Conquest seems to be more popular; and, there’s more servers up & running for that game style.  Most of the other game modes are empty until the weekend.

This is the only PS4 game I play online.   I play a few other games offline with my grandkids; but, they don’t compare to BF1!
