DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG
I'm getting the error. Running 8gb Corsair XMS3 DDR3 AMD Fx-6300 2x EVGA GTX 650 Ti Boost SC 2gb 970a-G46 mobo I've stress tested, I've downclocked. I've swapped drivers. Reinstalled DX, ...
Run DXSETUP.exe from this location to be sure all the required DirectX components are installed:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\directx\redist
Then perform a clean boot and run the game: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Hi eabarry.
A clean boot did not remedy the problem. Neither is it a feasable solution to turn off everything on your PC that doesn't interfere with other applications. Next thing you'll be telling us is to plug in an xbox controller...
NOT A FIX (just had device hung after 5 and half hours gameplay. Crashed in multiplayer.
I've managed to play for five hours (a new record for me) after doing the following:
Install the following:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 (may be unneccessary)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6812 (Only need runtime and tools)
Then run > Directx Control Panel
Under Direct3D 10/11 tab I've set the debug layer to 'Force Off' and on message settings ticked 'Mute all Messages'. Also break settings should be unticked by default. Might be a good idea to ensure dx9 is set to retail and not debug.
I have been able to run the bf4_x86.exe on a 64bit Windows 8.1 for 5 hours so it's a huge jump for me. If anyone else can test this I'd be grateful. If I get device hung again I'll be back to update.
