Any I5 from the 2320 all the way through to the latest version should have no trouble running at a smooth 60+ fps in every game when paired with a 970, i use 12 gb 1333mhz ram and that is more than enough to run ANYTHING smoothly and does so apart from BF1, especially if your only gaming. the most ram i have seen BF1 using when in conquest is 8gb when using MSI afterburner, so that still leaves me with 4gb for other tasks. upgrading ram has little to no effect on performance as so many youtube examples show that, yes if you increase the speed of your ram i supose it will help but id rather have more ram than faster ram as 1333mhz is still capable of anything. my cpu is not the greatest i'll admit (i5 2320 3.0ghz turbo boost up to 3.3ghz) but it amazes me that in the ps4 it has 8gb ram half is used for the user interface (home screen) and the other 4gb is used for gaming witch lets be honest is on the low side, a 1.6ghz cpu and half the power of my gpu probably less but in terms of frame rate dips BF1 runs smoother on there than it does on my PC!?! what is going on?

MSI afterburner is actually known for causing fps and stuttering issues in BF1 so you might want to try and not run that.
As for the rest, for us to make suggestions you should really add the information I requested to this thread.

i dont run msi after burner all the time, i only use it to check the usages, i mostly game with nothing else going on apart from the game im playing. i came to the conclusion that its just optimization issues and i hope BF1 will improve in the future.

perfoverlay.drawfps 1Looking at your specs your CPU is just below the minimum required specs to play BF1 so that is probably part of the problem. Here's how CPU compared to the minimum required CPU: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4460
As Carbonic stated MSI afterburner is a known problem with BF1 and so it shadow play and origin in game sometimes so try disabling shadown play and Origin in game and see if it performs any better. if you're on Win10 try disabling the Xbox DVR functionality as well.
