FPS Drops in Battlefield 4

Tonight for the first time ever my game had a sudden drop in FPS. I was running at 60FPS when it just dropped to 5FPS for about 10 seconds. It went back to normal for about that length of time and then dropped off again. I was playing just yesterday and a few days ago and had nothing like this happen. All software is up to date and the only change that has occurred otherwise was an update in Windows last night.

Anyone got an idea about what's causing my problem? I'll update if it persists beyond tonight!

My system specs:

Video Card: EVGA Nvidia GTX970FTW
Mobo: Asus P8P67 Deluxe
CPU: i5-2400 @3.10GHz
RAM: 16GB (4X4GB) @1600MHz Corsair DDR3
SSD: Samsung 840EVO 1TB
HDD: Maxtor 1TB @7200RPM
PSU: Thermaltake Smart M1200W
Case: Cooler Master HAFX
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

  • Hello @This1DarkLord

    Try the following:

    • Try to reinstall the game.
    • Delete the configuration file settings of the game. (My Documents>>Battlefield 4 and delete a folder "Settings")
    • Completely remove and re-install the driver for your graphics card.
    • Check for updates your Windows.
    • Clean the system. (AdvancedSystemCare or CCleaner)
    • Try turning off antivirus.
    • Try disabling the option "Origin in the game"
