Friend shown offline on list when he's actually online.

Just bought Battlefield 1 (PC) with my friend and we were excited to play together over multiplayer, to our disappointment it didn't work out quite well.

My friend is shown offline on my Origin friend list even though he is actually in the game playing. So that means I cannot add him to party and we can't play the Operations mode together, strange thing is, we can individually join the same game using the server browser, but even when we are in the same server, my friend appears to be offline on the Origin friend list. We tried some methods such as logging in and out again, using VPN network tools...but none worked.

It was really disappointing because we both looked forward to play this game together, we love Battlefield 1, it's a great game, the dev team did an awesome job, but in the end, we can't play together....

Hope this problem gets fixed soon. Thank you.

    @iseiji

    Is your friend by any chance set to be in "Invisible" mode on Origin? If yes, you or anyone else will not be able to see him as online and he will always appear offline.

    Tell him when logging in, to turn off  "Log me as Invisible" option or tell him if he is already in origin to press his status (top corner in Origin client on the right, the little blue/green/white circle) and select Online or select the game status if he is already in the game.

    Once he does that, he should show as visible. If he is still invisible in the BF1 UI, then both of you exit the game, log out of Origin and make sure you are both set to visible and not invisible status and then join back in the game.

    If it still does not work, reinstall origin and then run it in Administrator mode. If it is still not working, enable the Origin overlay for BF1 and relaunch the game. To do that for BF1, select the BF1 game icon in your library, then select "Show Game Details", then select the cog wheel next to play, then select "Game Properties" and then activate Origin for BF1 and press save.

    Thank you for the reply, my friend tried these methods but it didn't work, however; he did manage to find a way that somehow worked...

    Now he just log-in Origin from the web browser and keep the browser open, that way it seems he's able to stay online on the Origin platform.
