Game capped at 60fps even when Vsync turned off

Ever since the new windows 10 update (09-Aug-2016) I'm only able to play the game at maxed 60fps, even when the Vsync in the game setting are turned off. I even went to Nvidia control panel and turn off Vsync for BF4 and yet the game is still only running at capped 60fps.

FINALLY its back to normal now. Turns out it was something to do with the Xbox app on my laptop. whenever i launch the game i get this green box at the bottom saying (click something to record gameplay) and so i got curious and when went into the xbox app that came with the update, turns out that in the settings of that app it is set to video streaming or something and quality settings are set at standard. So i got pissed and disable everything and now my game is back to normal :D I'm back at 160fps. Thank you guys for helping.

hmmm, perhaps other program block it, run comand line as Admin and enter a commands:

    set > c:\list.txt

    tasklist /v >> c:\list.txt

Then give to me list.txt file from C:\ volume, I'll check the process list

@AlanCray Did you already try to make a new game cfg as your old one could be blocking it if not give this a try as well as try a clean boot to be sure a program is not making a issue. As well as your video card is only mid range so it will not pull off the FPS a high end card in BF4, As well as this issue is from win 10 update from the sounds of it. So your best bet if all this fails to help is set everything to low in game for now and keep off all this in game as stated in my first post :] ....

In game video settings right side set to custom and set everything to LOW but last three turn them off ....

    1-antialiasing deferred off
    2-antialiasing post off
    3-ambient occlusion off

on left side be sure vertical sync is off also set resolution scale to under 100 like 80 or 90 this will up you FPS

Try a clean boot : run a Clean Boot: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/929135 >This should ensure that no programs are interfering in the background.

Below are programs known to make issues in BF4

Disable Mantle if you have it and try Direct X, Turn OFF Anti-Aliasing Deferred in video card settings in game. If you have page file turned off then turn it back on as this can make errors even with 32gigs ram.

Others have said if they uninstall MSI Afterburner issues / crashing is stopped. So if you have this installed remove program and test BF4. Also look at other programs as Asus Game First Service...ROG Game First , Razer synapse, Razer Cortex, Qualcomm Killer Service , Fraps, EVGA Precision, Geforce experience, be sure to turn off the streaming function that is enabled by default ,Raptr, RivaTuner , ASRock eXtreme Tuner, Steam, Skype, aero ,Overwolf extra program in teamspeak and xfire are known to make issues as well. And I am sure more programs not in my list yet turn one off at a time and test BF4.

Uninstall the HD Audio Driver from the video card driver install add/remove programs. This silly thing makes issues in BF4 for some. Reboot then repair BF4 to be safe.

If all this fails to fix it then try this...

    C:\Users\your PC Name\Documents\Battlefield 4

BF4 folder in my documents holds game configs and screen shots even if BF4 is installed on different drive. When you uninstall BF4 it does NOT remove this folder. So when you install the game again you can still have the same issues. Even if its not a new install it is still worth trying as the game cfg could be mucked up.

1- Go to my Documents and remove BF4 folder place it on your Desktop for now.
2- Be warned you do have to set up your in game settings again.
    3-Repair BF4
4- When done go test your game. If it fails reboot your PC and run repair game again and test BF4.

@2042isNotBF well i did exactly what you said about the "Moving settings folder to Desktop thing and repair game" and it still didnt work. As for the Clean boot, i dont think there is any application that can affect the game since i reverted my Windows to the previous update and back in the previous update i was using whatever that i am having now(in my service tab) to play and i can get my game to run at 120fps+. After hours of time looking for solution online i think my last shot here would be to reset my windows to its factory settings and start over.....All because of some stupid Windows 10 update and i cant play BF4 now. I just dont understand why other games on my laptop can work over 100fps+ like BF3 and BFBC2 and BF4 just messed up like that.

@AlanCray Sorry for being slow posting back too you painting inside of house lol. The reason why Bf4 would lose FPS is all due to it takes more resources to run BF4 then the other games you listed. What ever the update installed something mucked up your BF4 this is why I wanted you to do a clean boot just to rule out it is not from a program on the PC. And sadly yes a program could do this to BF4 as I have seen it many times helping people on AHQ so  long shot sure but still worth a try.

All new windows OS have issues the first few years this is the norm and sadly win 10 has taken away so much power from the PC user in many aspects with win10. Don't even get me started on win 10 as I will not use it at this point in time if ever. Think of win 10 as a Beta for lack of a better word as it just hit one year old and due to you can not fully control windows updates you can get nailed with updates able to slow down or muck up your PC or effect games. The reason for this is all due to millions of different types on hardware in millions of PC's so at some point some will get a update and have it muck up the PC. Microsoft has taken away the power to turn off or just refuse updates / refuse some updates so in the long run it will muck up peoples PC when a update is not fully compatible with a persons hardware in said PC :[ I did much homework on win 10 like I always do with all new OS and  they can keep it I have zero interest in it due to I control my PC's and will not allow a OS to have full control over my PC's and turn crap on behind my back after I turn it off. But I have been on PC's since win95 so this is why I just roll my eyes at win10 for me. Sadly rolling back the PC will not stop the update  at some point you will just get it again unless Microsoft has changed something in win 10 the last 6-12 weeks and I am not banking they did yet when it comes down to being able to fully refuse a windows update and not have the OS just install it on you. After a year or more now of home work on win 10 I just stopped reading on it as it just makes me mad/ rage  what they have done with win 10 lol. I am not saying by all this you are wrong to be on win 10  each person has to do what they want for a OS but I am no fan of win10 lol :] Can ya tell lol as well as I am very able to muck up my own PC's I do not need help from Microsoft lol

Edit.. very off chance but make sure all this is up to date on your PC.....

Latest version of DirectX see this page

Reinstall Microsoft C++ For my game PC's I install both x64 and x86 as it does not hurt the PC

NOTE>>> you need to select the x64 or the x86 file depending on what architecture your computer has. To find this out, Click Start, right click on "Computer" and select "Properties". Under system type is should say "32-Bit Operating System" or "64-bit Operating System". If 32-bit operating system, download the x86 file, and if 64-bit download the x64 file.

    Reboot PC test BF4

Edit 2 Thinking on this more lets see if windows scan can find or fix anything as it is built into windows and sorry for the wall of text lol...

Test your windows for errors as a clean windows install does not always make a stable windows.

NOTE: Running SFC does not guarantee the crash/ issue will not happen, but it will ensure it is not because a windows Dll or file is corrupted in windows.

This works in all windows O/S vista Win7, Win8 , Win8.1 and win 10 windows system file checker :] Copy and past this to note pad and put it on your desktop. As open programs can give you errors when you run this.

sfc /scannow, ever hear of it if not your going to love this, it will inspect all the important windows files as well as the windows DLL files. If windows system file checker finds any issues with the windows files and windows DLL files it will replace them / try to fix them. This little tool as well as the event viewer on a PC saved me and fully helped me fix my BF4 issues as well as saved me many a format since I found it. This is the best toy they ever put in windows :womanvery-happy:

-For win7 go to start/ bottom left screen / windows globe .. Right click in search type cmd and right click cmd pick run as administrator.
-For win 8.1 right mouse click start bottom left of screen / windows box and pick command prompt administrator.

1-Open administrator command prompt and close web pages and programs like Origin, Steam etc.

2-Type or copy and paste in sfc /scannow and hit enter, This takes 5 min to 15 min SSD vs HD

3-This can go one of a few ways ..... no errors ... it fixed some errors ..... could not fix all errors...... does not finish checking and errors out ....... and the last one could not fix errors at all :/

4-After its done REBOOT PC and Run sfc /scannow again even if you had no errors the first time or had errors, could not fix run sfc /scannow again and when its done a second time reboot. You need to do this a and get no errors 2 x in a row ...

5-So if you ran it 2x and no errors your safe you can stop. If you had errors first time but not the second then run sfc /scannow again and when its done reboot. You need to get could not find any errors 2 x to be safe. If it still finds errors try and run it a few more times until it finds no errors 2x AND ALWAYS REBOOT BETWEEN RUNNING sfc /scannow

6-If you get a message indicating that it can not be repaired and you ran sfc /scannow more then 3x in a row on win vista or 7 mm you need a format or try repair win 7 :/ But after format or repair and all updates are done run sfc /scannow to make sure your windows is stable same deal 2x error free reboot between them.

NOTE-If your O/S is Win8 or Win 8,1 or win10 then you can run the next few command lines in administrator command prompt. Sadly this does not work for win vista or 7 :/ Note: After you run each command line Reboot PC.

This next part of windows scans is only for windows 8 & windows 8.1 and win 10

Reboot PC after you run each command line and close programs and web pages.

And same deal as above run command prompt administrator.

1-This command line will scan the health of your PC:
    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

2-This command line will restore the health of your PC and you don't lose anything on your PC :
    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Note: If you get errors with the two command lines above and it cant be fixed with second command line and if you are on windows 8.1. Then use third command line but be warned it could take up to two hrs to fix your PC but it will save you a format. I had a friend test this on a PC with errors when it could not be fixed with second command line. :womanvery-happy:

This next part of windows scans is only for windows 8.1 and win 10

And same deal as above run command prompt administrator.

1-If restore heath gave you errors then you can always try this command line:

    dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

2-If you get Error 0x800F081F with the restore health scan then run this command line. After you reboot your PC then run third command line to be sure your windows is fully stable.

    Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore

@2042isNotBF Well true but then i didn't know that the new update(Win10 AU Update) would install a new software(Xbox app) into my computer. Will keep that in mind next time
