This DOES work!! I made the mistake of moving Origin's installation directory to another drive (because I was running out of space in the original drive) and BF4 wouldn't install from the disk.
I uninstalled origin using the origin uninstaller .exe file in its folder and then reinstalled it and it seems to automatically detect the game in my DVD drive and starts installing(not downloading) immediately.
