OK, I just bought my BF4 today ($39 at GS) put disc in, it installed Origin, I needed to update some Origin profile stuff (I entered the game's code so it's recognized on Origin but only "download" was available and NOT install), then it wouldn't load from disc. Every time it says you need to 1. Install Origin, 2....., 3. Install BF4. But every time you click "Continue" it runs the disc for a few seconds and terminates (and YES, everything is permitted in Comodo firewall). I uninstalled Origin (I used revo uninstaller that removes every last trace of whatever you delete by using the game's built-in uninstaller and then it scans the registry for left overs), clicked start, reinstalled Origin, updated, THEN it finally went into the install page, only it immediately terminated with a stupid error saying to come back later..... (this is really ridiculous people. Stupid DRM is destroying the game industry (which pirates can apparently bypass on day 1 so what's the point if you have online safety checks anyway??)
Finally, out of frustration I copied the entire contents from disc 1, the .z02 file ONLY from disc 2, and the .zip file ONLY from disc 3 (which apparently isn't a real "zip" file as I couldn't open it or extract anything from it) to a separate, empty folder on my desktop. If you do one disc at a time, it'll prompt for disc 2, copy and paste into folder. Once the system is done transferring the data it'll auto resume. (I don't recommend doing it that way, though if you DO have an error, you'll at least know which disc is culprit. In my case the 1st time running from the folder it was disc 3.) I closed Origin, then in the folder clicked Autorun.exe. (NO compatibility set and NO Administrator were checked; it was just run as-is in my case) It finally opened Origin and went straight to the install stuff (something is labeled wrong in the .inf or one of the files for installation but I haven't the time or care to find out or troubleshoot EA's mishaps). I clicked OK, and it FINALLY started installing 😕mileylol:
Warning, it takes a little while to copy/paste the files from all 3 discs to the HD folder (more so on older CD/DVD drives), so be patient. Also, I ran into a hiccup the 1st time trying to install from folder as I apparently got a finger print on disc 3 that apparently went ignored and allowed a corrupted version of the zip file to copy to the folder, and cause the install to hang at 71%. When it hung, I could NOT cancel the install nor could I close Origin (COMPLETE JOKE). It just froze the install claiming it was paused. I had to force Origin to close in the task manager, manually delete the game folder as it was an incomplete install with no "uninstall" available, THEN restart the autorun.exe. from the folder. From there it finally installed the game!!
So for whatever reason, if it installs Origin but then closes after clicking "Continue", there is something wrong with how it proceeds from disc to online. Just copy everything from disc 1, the .z02 file from disc 2, the "zip" file from disc 3 and paste into a folder somewhere on the HD (preferably on your main drive where the Origin files are and avoid using a partitioned drive in case there are registry issues ). Open the folder, click autorun.exe (or start it from an elevated prompt) and you are good to go. Why EA or Origin aren't posting this as an answer is rather disheartening, especially when I'm just some average guy trying to get his "new" game to work. Too bad this took nearly 4 hours to get straightened out....... GL and hope this helps.
