Gpu usage fluctuating , fps drops/stuttering , good rig.

Rig:

Amd Fx 8350 4ghz

8 gigs ram

windows 7 64 bit

gtx 770 2gb

I play single player and my gpu usage is locked at 99% which gives me maximum frames 70-90 on ultra settings , 1920x1080 res. No problems what so ever , but when i play multiplayer i get the worst fps lag spikes and game stuttering , ive tried everything. I updated punkbuster fresh, reinstalled game completely, reinstalled my gpu drivers , set priority to low on task manager , used a config file to help fps and repairing the game. Not one of these things worked and i just hope someone has a fix or is it something to do with dice and their updates , or do i have to wait for a more stable driver from nvidia.
Thanks, Hamilton716

  • Bump, Same thing here, but i have a GTX 660 ti, GPu usage goes crazy, from 0% to 99%, its impossible to play.

  • Its not just happening to nvidia gpu's, i'm using a 6990 with  an 8350 and getting the microstuttering you are talking about, its horrible. I can play on ultra getting between 40 an 80 frames, but when trying to shoot someone its almost impossible becuase the stupid stuttering. Very VERY frustrating... I've spent hours looking for solutions and tried everyone i could find with no luck.

  • I am having this EXACT same problem.  I can play around 60 FPS full ultra in campaign, but in multiplayer I will get stuttering and random lag spikes, very noticable and very annoying.  Even on LOW settings I will hover around 130 fps then have lag and frame rate drops to 30 fps.

I've repaired, reinstalled, updated drivers, etc etc etc.  No fix.

And I have the same build.

    AMD FX 8350 @ 4.88 GHz

    EVGA 770 2GB Superclocked

    16 GB RAM

    Windows 7 64 bit

    SSD

At this point, I'm just waiting for some form of client update or driver update, because the volley of server updates are doing nothing to help my gameplay.  And I would really prefer not to upgrade to Win8.

Same problem here. I'm running a Gaming Laptop with a 765m Nvidia graphics card and 4gb ram. The energy settings are on max, the CPU i7 4700 c runs on 60% load... Ingame it almost freezes for up to one second randomly all ~10 sec... Almost always when u start using a scope. On all detail settings the same problem. Singleplayer is smoove though.

  • i have the same issue and i have the FX 8350 with mobo asrock 970 ex3 and with 2 Video cards R9 270 crossfirex, the PSU is corsair cx750m . the GPU temp and usage playing BF4 suddenly drops from 99% to 10%, i used to have a gtx 660 TI and i had the same issue, maybe i need to change some settings but i dont have any idea which settings.
i was playing BF4 today and i got the same issue again around 5-7 times per game then i was checking the tweak and gpu usage was ok but then i realized that i selected the graphic card number two after that i clicked on the card number one and the gpu usage was around 20 %, i dont know what to do. if you have some info about this , i´ll appreciate it. thanks in advance for any info.

    Experiencing similar problems in BF4.

The GPU usage spikes aren't terribly dramatic, but they dip between 80% & 100% every other second.

    Here is my setup:

    FX-8350 CPU

    H80i Cooler

    Gigabyte GA990FXA-UD3 MOBO

    2 - EVGA 660Ti GPUs in SLI

    16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM @ 1600mHz

    120GB Kington HyperX SSD

    Kingwin 1000W PSU

I bought the Gigabyte Mobo and FX-8350 to create a secondary rig with my 660Ti cards.  BF4 ran MUCH better when I had my Asus Maximus V Formula MOBO and i7-2700k CPU.

Reading this thread, I feel like the common denominator here is the FX-8350.  Though in theory this CPU shouldn't be the culprit for GPU usage spikes/drops.  Not sure what the correct fix is... if there is one.  I'd have to do more testing.  Not sure if these spikes/drops are exclusive to BF4 yet or not.  Need to test more games / scenarios.

  • Same here...bought a good rig..about 4000USD total(not including the monitor) and i got really **bleep**ty performance playing BF4 multiplayer. I tried everything - reinstalling and repairing the game, installing Wind 8.1, unparking the cores, tweaking the Guru 3D nvidia settings, disabling origin in-game,disabling the firewall and antivirus, removing all antivirus and firewall software,clean-booting Windows, disabling all start-up processes.Let's see..what else..well, i cant remember the rest, but if you can think of anything, i probably did it...SSDD
