Granulation screen

Hello everyone,

I started having screen problems with the game, it Granulates all the time, not only in-game, also in menu or while loading screen switches pictures. I do not know how did it actually happen, Vertical sync help (but that is not the solution why did it started, when before was everything fine), I tried to reinstall graphic driver, even installed older version (which was even worse). I also tried to record it, when strange thing happened, granulating stopped during recording and continued after recording ended. I tried to limit ingame FPS to simulate VSync wintout turning it on, it granulated even when i lowered it to 10 FPS. I am not sure whether the game is corrupted or my graphics are failing. It works fine in other games. The game itself did self repair today with no solution on screen problems. I am running it on Acer V15, GTX 960M 2GB, i5 6300, 8GB RAM, Win 10 64bit.

If anyone has an idea, please share it. 🙂 Thank You.

    Problem solved. I reinstalled the game and the problem persisted. I turned off the recording program automatically implemented by xbox and granulation stopped. How simple it can be. I will not count hours googling about this issue. Hope someone will find this thread helpfull someday. 🙂

    Many thanks to You guys for helping me. 🙂

  • Hello @marsim

    - are you run Origin as Admin?

    - are you tryed to delete folder C:\Users\[User_name]\Documents\Battlefield 4\?

    - are you check that game use the nvidia gpu?

    - try to test your gpu with this bench (note max temp, artifacts, freezes and other)

    I have tried running it as Admin, even tried compatibility mode, deletedd BF4 folder from Documents, GPU test is stable with no freezes or artifacts. If i run the game in windowed mode, Granulation is not visible, but only if i play in small window. Once i make it bigger, it starts again. I believe it is Graphics problem, but I can not solve what it is, what to set up. I will try to reinstall the game again and see what will come of. 🙂

    It did not work. I made a video of game launch, so You can see what is actually happening. It is recorded on iPhone, so the quality is not so great, but for this case it should be enough. Here is the link to youtube, I can not upload it here succesfully. https://youtu.be/EDuArKl3v0Q

    @MADrag0n asked if you are using your Nvidia GPU because being on a laptop they frequently have two GPUs, a normal on board non-peformance GPU and the Performance gaming GPU. I've seen your issue occur when the PC defaults and uses the non-Performance GPU so please check your settings that BF4 is using the GTX960M and not the standard GPU.

    Battlefield uses nvidia GPU. Integrated GPU will never run it over 50fps.

  • 1) Check BF4 folder and delete all files (if exist) witch on mask d3d9*.dll, d3d9*.fx, dxgi*.dll, dxgi*.fx, d3d11*.dll, d3d11*.fx, opengl32.dll

    Only one file like it should be in there - d3dcompiler_46.dll

    2) download this and run/install as Admin.

    3) If u use Nvidia Experience, disable it (how: 1, 2, 3).

    4) Lets try to trick with game video setting and check if it change some:

    a) download, install tool, open Profiles tab, highlight the "Default Settings" profile for BF4 and press "Load Profile";

    b) open Settings tab and setup all of u want, then highlight Graphics section and set this:

    Motion blur amount - 0

    Weapon blur - unchecked

    Overall graphics quality - Custom

    Anti-aliasing (deferred) - Off

    Anti-aliasing (post) - Off

    c) in Settings tab, highlight Console section and uncheck four options of DirectX11 and DX;

    d) press "Save Settings".

    5) Also go to nvidia driver settings - 3D Settings - Program settings - select BF4 and find and edit (set to minimal/disable) similar settings

    Try to play and check ur problem (if "Cloud sync" appear - use local data).
