Honestly, EA, this was a Terrible Release

I'm taking liberties here, as I'm not exactly asking a question, but I really need to vent some frustration. The release of Battlefield 4 really could not have gone worse. The cost of the game, incl. or excl. Premium, is just exorbitant for the quality of product you give us in return. It's shocking and someone needs to say it -  your marketing is just that - HYPE. I'm well aware of bugs on release, but Battlefield 4 is a shambles and in my opinion should never have been released on time. It is a wonder at all that anyone buys EA products anymore, this is a disturbing trend and must stop.

I would like to list just a few issues that I find unnacceptable from EA in the hope that they will actually take notice:

  • The game is NOT optimised at all from a video perspective, continious crashing and graphics stutter and frame drops.
  • The lack of any recognisable netcode that rewards skill or even allows for it to be developed through consistent encounters.
  • Game breaking bugs like the "one shot" headshot bug and the failure to spot correctly.
  • The lack of sound on not just one, but many maps - no it's not the QBU DMR weapon bug (but don't get me started on that).
  • In fact, the lack of any recognisable quality assurance in almost every single facet of the game.
  • The lack of any forsight for the implementation of statistics accumulation whilst spectating or playing commander.
  • The lack of an end game goal for players, XP boosters have sucked all enjoyment from the levelling experience.
  • The idiocy in allowing players to exceed the level cap of 100 - what is the point of that if the level cap is now 120?
  • The shoddy and obviously rushed graphics used to depict players over Rank 100 in the in-game scoreboard.
  • The implementation of an extremely limited emblem system that at best wastes player's time.
  • The failure to implement live scoreboards that were available in Battlfield 3.
  • The introduction of a trivial mission system that achieves nothing and rewards nothing.
  • The inability to set a round start countdown to allow for players with different loading speeds to start the round simultaneously.
  • The lack of creativity to develop new game modes - Obliteration and Defuse are pathetic excuses for "competitive" modes.
  • The failure to continue with viable competitive modes like Squad Rush.
  • The failure to introduce new and effective game mechanics and continue working game mechanics (e.g. flares, reactive armour etc. etc.).
  • The introduction of bland and broken weapons/gadgets that trivialise the gameplay experience and are completely ineffective.
  • The numerous failures to integrate between Battelog, Battlefield 4 and servers.
  • The irrational limitations placed on who can sell Battlefield 4 servers.
  • The rushed nature of the "Spectator" view - have you actually tried to shoutcast a game using the spectator? It's a joke.
  • The continued involvement of Origin, an application that can only be described as spy ware.
  • The reintroduction of vastly unpopular maps from Battlefield 3 like Metro and Caspian Border.
  • The limitation of "community engagement" to a group of 4 or 5 effectively "paid" YouTube channels.
  • The slap dash nature of the entire game from launch through the 13 or so seeminly inneffective patches to date.
  • The list goes on and on - but I'll give you a break on the balancing side of things as I've mentioned quite a lot already.

Considering that Battlefield 4 was at best a copy paste and touch up of Battlefield 3, EA you should be ashamed of yourselves. You have taken advantage of the loyal customers of the Battlefield franchise. Believe me, it has not gone unnoticed in the community and you will start to feel it in the only place you care about - your bottom line. I'm not even going to ask you to fix this game, it will take over a year to do so and by then you'll be planning the release of Battlefield 5 and most players will have moved on from Battlefield 4. At that point you will start balancing weapons and it's all too little too late - just like in BF3.

In short, I find the product unacceptable and take this oppertunity to make you aware that EA was on thin ice with the Battlefield community and is now falling into the frigid waters below. I am disatisfied, frustrated and angry - so much so that I am considering putting down for good a game I have enjoyed and played competitively in every title since Battlefield 1942. Thanks for ruining my gaming experience. Keep your Battlepacks, emblems and camo's just give us what you advertised -  a functional next generation game that stays true to the Battlefield franchise. This game has seriously lost it's way and I lay that at your door EA.

I am sorry but Answer HQ is a community forum for gaming veterans helping other gamers with mostly technical issues. As we are not a community board for general disscussion and complaints, I would recommend to jump over to our Battlelog forum.
