How does Aim Assist work in BF1?

Can someone help me out with using aim assist? Maybe I am doing it wrong, but I don't 'feel' it working. My understanding is that when I aim close to a target it should move the aiming point to the target. Snapping it to him. But I never experience this.

So this is what I'm doing:

  • I move around and at one point see my target in front of me
  • I move my crosshairs towards that target, somewhere close to his body
  • I press and hold L2, the crosshairs disappear, the view is zoomed a bit to my target

My understanding is that the aiming point should 'snap' to the target's body so I can make my kill. But I never feel/see it snapping. I just shoot and my bullets end up somewhere around the target's body, but never right at him. So I still have to move my sights to him while shooting. And of course I'm killed in the process...

@jiggywiggy1965 I haven't played on console in a while, but I'm under the impression that it has some fairly robust snapping as part of the aim assist.

If it's not working as you describe can you check your settings, in case you don't have the full aim assist enabled?

I know there was an issue in the early versions of the game where if you were stationary, snapping didn't work if your opponent was moving. However if you're moving too then it should work as normal.

    Thanks.

  • Well normally it's 2-3 feet of the target but they slowed the AA down so you might not see it much, try looking like a foot off target and aim I'd that doesn't work then they either it's not on or there is none. Good luck
  • Did u find a solution cause i just bought the game and i turn on my aim assist but cant use it i dont feel like im on aim assist

I'm closing this thread to stop it being necroed.

If you have any issues with Battlefield 1 please make a new topic about the issues you are having and what kind of steps you have tried to solve it.
