How the heck are you supposed to shoot Helis and Jets?

I have been playing BF4 on and off for like 5 years. It is now IMPOSSIBLE to shoot a chopper. The countermeasures renew too fast for a single person to lock on AND kill the chopper. Also, the attack choppers are armored well enough that one rocket won't do it.

I keep seeing guys taking out with RPGs and SMAWs, I have tried practicing but the margin of error is jsut nuts. If your aim is off by the slightest or the pilot dips or sways just slightly you've totally missed. Then they just swivel and light you up.

I got killed by the same three pilots 14 times in one conquest, it was nuts.

How do you guys fight years of heli and jet pilot talent? The stinger reload and re-lock timing msut be nearly twice that of the countermeasures.

I would sincerely appreciate any suggestions.

I do my best to use a tank or the aa when possible, I don't think I have ever taken down a chopper with any kind of rocket

  • I've killed countless heli's with RPG's and tanks one of  my favourite ways is using an AA mine to wing them  before smashing them with an RPG.

  • This is the way. Lasers, Javelins and other lockons work fine too, if they are not 100% focused on you. Little Birds, just shoot the driver out of the cockpit, DMRs work well for this.

Lots of great advices and ways described here above already on how to take out helis and jets in BF4 !

Ultimate and a great additional factor is of course some teamwork.  One Support soldier to deliver ammo and then a few committed engineers teaming up is usually all you need.  Depending on the map, then a lone wolf engineer is typically not enough to take out a sneaky heli, especially if he/she is supported by a repair crew on board...

    Hello Michio!

I have played bf4 for a long time and sometimes this can be very frustrating. There are a couple of different ways to deal with this, first, it helps to have a team that is taking advantage of all available vehicles, AA, boats, tanks etc. Obviously, this can't always be achieved and server hopping might be the best option if the enemy chopper is dominating. I would recommend to keep practicing as eventually you will understand how to guide missiles without using lock-on assistance, trust me I used to think it was impossible. Also when locking on to anything never fire your missile before the enemy deploys flares, often people fire when the enemy heli has countermeasures ready and you will never get a hit off. This however is why more experienced players prefer non-locking RPGS because professional pilots will just retreat and recharge their countermeasures into an endless cycle. I hope this gives some insight, there really is not a correct answer other than to just tell you to practice more which naturally takes a very long time. I believe in you though :D

    Very respectfully, Slushi.
