How to add friends on origin

I have been trying to add friends on origin so that i can play Battlefield 4! I have been told that to connect your xbox live profile to origin you have to add friends and then select xbox platform e.t.c. But i cant find the friends tab! HELP!!!!

    Hi,

    in your Origin client click on the friend button, an icon that show 2 heads and a number. Your friends list will

    show. On the bottom click on "+ Add as friend". Another window will show up that enables you to connect

    to other services. To search friends, enter their Id or e-mail and click search.

    Thanks for that but the thing is when i go on origin i cant find the actual icon i dont know where it is as it doesnt appear on my home screen is this something to do with me using my ipod to do this?

    @EMAN_YOLO You cant use iPad for origin since there is no app. You will have to go on a mac or PC and download the latest version of the origin client from here https://www.origin.com/en-ca/download

    Answer his question. Where is the friend tab? It doesn't appear, meaning that linking personas is impossible. Why can't we just do it from the console or something? Why shoehorn people into downloading a faulty product? This time don't respond with a vague non-answer.

    so i need to download origin to add friends to play any ea game? 

    and does my friend also need to download it????
