Unfortunately as mentioned here, you won't be able to play Battlefield 4 if you don't have a Hard Drive on your Xbox.
There is a required installation of 2GB, that must be done on an internal Hard Drive.

- I actually have 223 GB free on my xbox 360 hard drive but every time I try and play bf4 it stay loading on the main screen or the screen goes blank, is there a reason why it does that? Do I need to buy another hard drive? Please help

My brother and I checked if we had a hard drive, which we do, and bought the game. it arrived more than a week behind schedule so we're eager to play it. Every single time i try to start it says update required so i press download and then it says download to hardrive, so i do. Then it says you need an xbox 360 hard drive even though I selected it. It has 5 GB of free space. can you use an external hard drive?
I might just return the game and settle for COD ghosts.
dont get ghosts like everybody says its horrible buy a cheap hard drive of amazon like i did
