Solved

I just bought a hard disk copy of BF1, and have no cd drive to install it?

I had just bought a hard disk copy of Battlefield 1 for my PC, and it never came with a code, which is a unfortunate situation because i dont have an CD drive to run the disks. Someone please help, if there is anyway an EA member can help me confirm the authenticity or something to get it on my account or something, that'd be great. <3

@xXRewelizationXx Hey, I hope you were able to get your code sorted out.

It's worth bearing in mind that the code is the core of a game purchase. The discs themselves are just a delivery method for the game file data (and there's plenty to download anyway) and the game code will be needed even if you do have the discs.

Let us know how you get on anyway, thanks.

  • This sounds like something that you'd probably need to speak to customer support about really. The only alternative I can think of would be to install it on another computer that has a disk drive so you can add it to your origin account and then once it's in your library, download it on your computer. I don't see why that wouldn't work but I can't guarantee it.

Obvious questions to answer before speaking to support:
-Does it definitely not have a code printed anywhere like in the manual or anything?
    -Is it definitely for PC?

I had rung the store, to find out there is suppose to be a code, but they ran out of codes, so i have to go to another store and get a code, or a booklet etc.

  • Sounds like a strange bit of circumstances all the way around. The last two BF games (BF3 & 4) I purchased physically had discs, but I never even had the chance to use them as the entire game was downloaded digitally when logging into Origin and confirming the purchase. For BF1 I just purchased it straight from Origin and had the download. The way of discs is essentially over, game stores have limited (if any) PC market anymore. At any rate, for your issue....external CD ROM drives are quite cheap these days. You would like have some friends, family, or colleagues that have one laying around and likely in limited use. Look around to borrow one for a couple of hours.

    Good luck.

Good point @TheSplynncryth, I find in my peer group there's usually one disc drive floating around for those rare times we need to read discs.
