    That bug happens if you fire the flare into the ground too close to you. To bypass it, I recommend the approach that actually was the one intended by devs - aim flare gun in the air and fire. A map with white dot will open. That dot is your flare. Click LMB again when the dot is over the place you want to attack - that's where artillery strike will go. The practical range is up to 220-230m.

Hello,

That seems reasonable workaround, but I still don't see why you would get the bug if you decide to fire the artillery "danger close" or right below your feet.

Do you agree that firing the flare next to your feet or 5 meters away should't bug out the minimap and should be fixed in a follow up patch?

Well, I hope it will get fixed, although obviously ETA is unknown for it. In terms of why exactly bug is triggered, as far as I'm aware it's because the flare gets activated before map even comes up.
