Matchmaking On PC Basically Not Functional For Me

Hey all. I'm having a major issue with matchmaking on BF1 PC. Despite there being an average of over 30,000 people playing the game at any given time, I can never find more than a dozen populated servers at a given time. Trying to quick match often either fails, connects to a European server with a terrible ping or starts a new game with just me in it. Operations always fail to matchmake. If I'm playing in a group with friends, I can never be the group leader because of the issues above. Also, I frequently get "an unknown error occurred" when trying to join on games other party members matchmake into. They don't have these issues or if they do, it's rare. As a Premium member, this is infuriating.

I've tried reinstalling the game and it hasn't helped. My Internet connection is 60/10 cable and has no issue with any other multiplayer games. Not that it should matter in this context but I'm also on a 6700K with 16GB of RAM, a GTX 1080 and RAID 0 SSDs. When I get into matches, it runs like butter but matchmaking is essentially broken for me.

I really need to get this resolved but have no idea what the cause is. If anyone can assist, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Hey @PXAbstraction,

    Sorry to hear about this.

If you are running DX12 in Battlefield 1, have you tried swapping over to DX11? DX12 is known to cause a few issues.

Also, do you have the Origin In-Game Overlay enabled in the Origin App?

As far as Operations go, usually when you quickmatch for those, I've had the same problem where it puts me in an empty lobby by myself.

However, Operations is in Server Browser now, so you are able to find a Server that way, same with Conquest or any other game mode.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks 🙂

I am running in DX11 mode and have never used DX12 mode. I've also tried with the overlay on and off and it doesn't make any difference.

    @PXAbstraction

    Sorry to hear about that.

Have you also tried doing the other steps that I mentioned above, regarding finding Operations in the Server Browser instead of Matchmaking?

Also, I found another thread that might be of some assistance to you:

If you are still having problems, you may also contact EA Support via Live Chat via the link below:

Let us know if you still need further assistance.

    Thanks 🙂

I have the same problem as do many more players, I can't understand what you are talking about by going in to this file and that file I don't have a degree in computer science. What is need hear is for Origin and EA to fix a broken game, or start refunding peoples money.
