How do i get Desert combat to work? i'm running win8. i'm running bf1942 origin full install version 1.612.
I successfuly installed DC 0.7 and got it to run by copying the files from the ea games folder that DC installed to and pasting them into the origin games folder. I then installed DC FINAL. It works but I cannot join a server.. it says that I need to enable Punkbuster but then when I try to enable PB it says i need to download the latest bf1942 patch.
To my knowledge, PB no longer runs for Bf1942 due to the fact that ea games discontinued it.
i found pbvsb.exe or whatever its called online somewhere and ran it but it just installs to a windows system directory. i copied it to the battlefield folder but it just sits there and even after uninstalling it and running it again from there it keeps installing to windows system or something.
I tried tank's pbupdater fix from moongamers.com and it doesnt work because i dont have a pb folder in battlefield1942 diretory i guess? another reason it might not be working because for tank's pb fix to work it says i need bf1942 v1.6b? but 1.612 is more recent, no? i have no idea.
Now i am stuck.
