No audio in battlefield 4 PC

I've been trouble shooting this for a while now and haven't made any headway.

I am running windows 10 pro. My unused output audio devices are disabled and my headset is the default audio device.

I've reinstalled the game 3 times and I am running it as admin. I've tinkered with the in-game audio settings and nothing seems to make a difference.

BF4 is showing up in windows audio mixer but it is not producing any audio and other applications like firefox are.

At this point I am thinking that BF4 is trying to play on a different audio channel but I am not sure how to access such a feature considering the audio device recognizes BF4 as an application. I am at a bit of a diagnostic dead end here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: My only audio device is using realtek high definition audio as its driver and I have reinstalled/updated the driver a few times now.

  • Ok so I tried playing the game with a USB headset and after some tinkering with punkbuster I am getting sound but going back to my non usb headset there still is no audio. So now I need an adapter to play the game... thanks battlefield

  • @99ProbsGunAint1 Right click speaker select open sound settings, make sure your sound solution is listed and set.

wile you are in that screen select sound control panel and click speaker select advanced tab and select 16 bit 48000 hz.

Launch game and alt/tab out of game. Right click speaker select sound mixer and see if BF4 is muted.

@99ProbsGunAint1 As a long shot try turning off windows Defender and see if that helps.

Obviously turn it back on after.

here the solution Documents\Battlefield 4\settings PROFSAVE_profile  open this in notepad and you this  (GstAudio.AudioQuality 1 ) changed the value to 4  and save

  • Tried that but it didn't work ☹️ also tried turning off windows defender, still no sound.

@99ProbsGunAint1 You say your headset is the default sound device. Is it a USB headset? When you alt tab out of the game your headset shows up as default sound device still?
