So being the OP, I thought I should comment on this!

My game is installed on the C:/ - same drive as "my documents". im not sure if its the exact same problem that people are having if the game is installed on a different drive to their OS. (maybe try installing the origin and the game on the OS drive and see if it fixes the problem?).

I fixed my problem of the battlefield1 "my documents" folder not being created (which fixed all the problems I was originally having ingame) by starting origin as administrator (right click on origin desktop shortcut and "run as administrator"); Then right clicking on the desktop battlefield1 shortcut and "run as administrator".  If you dont have a desktop shortcut, find the battlefield1.exe in the origin folder and run as administrator from there. Dont directly play battlefield through origin as it wont run as administrator even though origin is running as administrator. Now the battlefield1 folder has been created I can now run the game through origin as normal.

Also, another problem I was having was that I couldnt control and move fixed guns (fixed machine guns and tank guns etc), but I corrected this by disabling the origin ingame overlay.

    HTH

Thanks, I tried that but unfortunately it did not work. I might have to combine the game and origin on the same hard drive. It's really odd since this divided setup works for all my other games except this one.

Glad you got it resolved though!

I saw in another forum somebody had to copy the Setting folder over to the correct location using a friends functioning copy.
I will try that and let you guys know if it works

Log into EA and get in touch with their customer support. This needs to be fixed and highlighted to the devs

Running the game .exe and origin as administrator fixed this issue for me.

  • I got game on USB drive and it works fine. Battlefield 1 in Documents dir. If your BF settings are in C:\Battlefield 1, no wonder it can't save to it as normal user (non-admin).
