[PC] BF1 directX problem ?

I played the game today in the morning and for a full week now, and everything worked ok.

Today evening I tried to play, this is the message I got:

DirectX error

I know you don't officialy support my graphics card ( HD 6850) but it worked for me like a charm on low settings. I had to dissable all the advanced and basic details.

It doesn't botter me it looks poor, I just love the gameplay and the content. Also I had around 30-40 FPS in average during gameplay.

I hope you can help.

I tried:

-repair in Origin

-clean boot (all the non Windows services were dissabled)

-deleting all the files in the Documents > Battlefield 1> settings folder

-installing new Crimson drivers, the latest issue from official AMD drivers site for my series:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows+7+-+64

(I also tried the first one the Catalyst Software Suite ver 15.7.1 )

I'm running:

I5 2320 @ 3.0 GHz

4x4 GB Corsair DDR3

Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6850

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64b version

I have to say once more I was playing the game all week long and today in the morning, everything was fine.

And in the evening it went all bye bye for me. ☹️

HELP please! I want to play more!!!

I even tried reinstaling the Battlefield 1\__Installer\vc updates ; (vcredist_x64 from the vc2013 folder) and (vcredist_x64 from the vc2012Update3 folder).

    Now I'm getting this error:

    error log

So I run Origin (tried as admin too), click play in the games library icon of the game, the game goes to the welcome title menu and as soon it should enter the main menu it black screeens and it shows me this error message.

The HD 7000 generation, with an HD 7730 as the least powerful among them, introduced "Graphics Card Next" features and functions.  It is entirely possible that some planned effects that must have GCN level support had to be held back at first,, and have only now been ready in the game, sending your older card into dead end alleyways because it lacks those GCN capabilities.  Sorry.

I just don't want to think about how many users bought the game and now they (and me) should be satisfied with your presumption.

Lucky me, my friend lend me his HD 7950 so I don't have these problems anymore. But there are now new problems regarding packet loss and latency. But this is just an another topic.

  • negative. I have a 1080. I bought the game 3 weeks ago. 1 week ago, I started getting the same error. * and serious problem. renders game unplayable about 5 - 10 minutes in. EA rep, reply and supply a solution or I will have to demand a refund and repurchase when I get contacted that this situation is fixed.

  • this would happen to me when i overclocked my EVGA 970 sc to much also when paired with an i5 2320, so i just decreased the clocks on the GPU until those messages stopped appearing, to be honest i didn't need to overclock my card as it already comes with boosted clock speeds, i have no problems now but BF1 still isn't up to scratch in terms performance, even the high end machines still have fps issues (some people not all). also made the switch from windows 7 to 10 and man the difference is night and day in terms of performance in BF1, i'm not sure about every game but i wouldn't be surprised if windows 10 offers a vast improvement across the board.

In this case it was your PC instead of the game that wasn't up to scratch since your CPU was below the minimum required CPU to run BF1 (see system specs below): You can see how your CPU compares to the minimum CPU required here:  http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2320

Just because an under spec PC will run the game doesn't mean that it will always run and reliably run the game after game title or driver updates.

BF titles traditionally have issues with overclocked hardware so your method of reducing the clock speed is a good one to start with which seemed to have luckily worked for you.

    Battlefield 1 systems specs:

    MINIMUM SPECS
    • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
    • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
    • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K

    • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce® GTX 660 2GB
    • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
    • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
    • Hard-drive space: 50GB
    RECOMMENDED SPECS
    • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
    • Processor (AMD): AMD FX 8350 Wraith
    • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790 or equivalent
    • Memory: 16GB RAM
    • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ RX 480 4GB

We require more information before we can throw suggestions at you. You said you have a 1080, but what is your CPU, how much RAM do you have, which OS are you using, are you using the in game graphics settings or GeForce experience to manage game graphics? What settings are you on, do you have anything OC'd, are you using software like MSI afterburner, if on Win 10 is the Xbox DVR active, are you using shadowplay?
