Just a guess but have you tried clearing all controller keybinds in options so there's only keyboard and mouse left?

It works, but it's not actually a solution.
There's no reason I shouldn't be able to default to KB/Mouse control without clearing bindings.

Normally both should work at the same time, that is the default BF4 setting. I'm afraid I have no idea why the mouse stops working unless you have some third party software installed messing with things.

What else as an input device do you have plugged into your PC when your controller is plugged in? I ask because in Dark Souls and Dragon Age Inquisition I had the same thing when I had a Razer nostromo and controller plugged in at the same time, but when I'd remove either the nostromo or the controller the other would work fine. There may be another piece of hardware causing the conflict.
