Performance issues with RX 480 8GB

So after the Battlefield V announcement, I thought I'd play a little BF1 again after not playing for a few months. The problem is that my frames are very bad. I'm getting about 40-50 fps, with it sometimes dropping down to 20-30. My GPU usage is also very unstable, It constantly drops down to 50%, 20%, 5% and sometimes even 0%. CPU usage sits at about 94% & RAM usage is about 7GB. My temperatures are fine, so I know that's not a problem. This is all on ultra settings, but even when I turned the settings down to medium, it barely changed. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it?

GPU: RX 480 8GB

CPU: I5-6600K

RAM: 8GB

  • Of note OP you're not going to get as many frames as your GPU is capable of since both your RAM and CPU are at the bare minimum to run BF1 and BF1 is a very CPU intensive game. Regarding the very low numbers are you running Ultra and have you tried the steps recommended by @illuminatethesky?

  • Hey @Magmalordxl,

Have you tried the following steps?

    - Turn off Origin In-game Overlay in the Launcher, and the Battlefield 1 Game Properties in Origin.

    - Make sure you're running DX11 not DX12

    - Change the Frame Rate Limiter in the in-game settings to 60-120, depending on what your system can handle

    - Allow Firewall access to Battlefield 1

Give these steps a try, and let us know if you still need assistance.

    Thank you 🙂
