planes

The title says it: planes. Now I know there's different types, but the issue is mainly about the quick, small attack planes. The question is:

As infantry, is it actually possible to down a plane ? Excluding fixed AA gun, and excluding any vehicles to help with that. I've tried the so called "best weapons" to do do, and if you're on your own (no other infantry doing the same), you get 20% at very best. Often 1 or 2% mostly. I mean, that is useless.

And these planes, they repair much faster than that, so it's very easy for them. Typical maps are Monte Grappa and Fao Fortress.

If you can only get that low amount of damage, it's useless, and the game would be better if that would be easier in some way. So, without AA gun or vehicle, it takes what, 4 or 5 people shooting at it ? And, all of them very accurate for that matter.

A slower repair time woudn't help as the planes can hide (at high altitude) whenever and for as long as they want, unlike infantry, who is trapped on the map and in best case can hide behind a rock, but any place is reachable for any such plane since they spam kill with I don't know how many bombs they throw at ye.

The bomber planes are NOT an issue, they are doable, as a single infantry, with the right portable gun. But, it depends on the player, usually it's the less good ones that can make it seem easy. But, as infantry you can't see that straight away.

    @DisChipo I don't bother shooting at fighters myself, they're mostly going to get away, but I'll shoot at attack planes. Usually I'll use an LMG with lots of rounds, buy the flame rounds on the Burton are great too, they often cause a crash. You do need to stay mobile though and I think it's best to do as a deterent.

    I've also got some fond memories of shooting down attack planes with the G95 and the Mondragon.

    Keep shooting at those fighters and attack planes. Sometimes you get lucky and take one down that already had significant damage. Sometimes all it takes is a single shot. It also helps your team. Most pilots will repair, and that means less time taking out you and your teammates.

      Just yesterday there was a guy in an attack plane that was preventing our team from taking an objective. He was really good. After him killing me I don’t know how many times I tried taking him out. Maybe 20-40% damage on his plane, I’m dead from the attempt, and he climbs to altitude to repair.

      I hate airplanes and do whatever I can to take them down; but, unless you have help against an attack plane it’s almost impossible. I think in all my attempts I have only downed a couple attack planes without using an AA gun. I suck at flying or I would use that avenue to get them.
