[PS3] update 1.16 error

I keep on getting an error every time I try to download this update. Connection is good. Even hard wired a couple of time to make sure it didn't lose signal. I keep getting the error of 80710723 around 7-16% and it's driving me nuts. Plenty of space on hard drive and connection is stable. Please HELP.

Thanks!

  • A PS3 Error 80710723 signifies a network/router error. Try going to:

SETTINGS > NETWORK SETTINGS > INERNET CONNECTION SETTINGS > (If wired, choose path 1. If wireless, choose path 2.)

    1. WIRED CONNECTION > CUSTOM > MANUAL SETTINGS > AUTO DETECT > AUTOMATIC > DO NOT SET > MANUAL ( DNS1 : 208.67.222.222 , DNS2 : 208.67.220.220 ) > AUTO > DO NOT USE > ENABLE > X > X

    2. WIRELESS > ENTER MANUALLY > ( ENTER SSID OR CONTINUE ) > ( CHOOSE SECURITY OR CONTINUE ) > CUSTOM > AUTO > DO NOT SET > MANUAL ( DNS1 : 208.67.222.222 , DNS2 : 208.67.220.220 ) > AUTO > DO NOT USE > ENABLE > X > X

To all Electronic-Arts and DICE employees, supervisors, managers, Technical-Support, engineers, programmers, etc. etc. etc.:

I have tried the previously-mentioned suggestion, and have also tried each and every single one of the other suggestions mentioned in this "Answer HQ" about this exact same issue (there are several forum-posts about this same thing happening with Battlefield-4 software version 1.15). And yes I've tried using a wired connection, changing my DNS-address numbers, connecting the PS3 somewhere else (ie. the "use a different Internet provider and see if that'll help" suggestion). And any combination of all of the suggestions (including the ones that I mentioned just now). None of the options worked. :-(  . Please help :-(

I live in Panama City, Republic of Panama. (I'm a U.S. citizen born & currently-living abroad (I'm an Air-Force brat, by the way)).

Internet Service Provider is "Cable & Wireless".

    PS3-model is CECHE01

I am using a "physical disc" version of the game. (a PS3 "Battlefield 4" game-disc).

A friend of mine who still lives at my old house in Orlando Florida (he has AT&T U-Verse) also has a "CECHE01"-model PS3 and a PS3-game-disc of Battlefield 4 and he has the exact same issue I have.

I've done that already and just did it again and nothing. Still same error around the same percentage. This is an issue on the server, network, update itself, or Dice/EA. Many people are having the same issue as I. Please look into it more to get something to work, other than the generic fixes, because they are not working.

I've talked to people that I know that are Computer Engineers, Systems Engineers, Computer Programmers, Software Programmers, Software Engineers, Software Designers, Software Managers, I.T. Specialists, Internet Specialists (ie. They help people out with Internet-related issues and problems), etc. And, I've worked in Tech Support, Customer Service, Activation Error Queue, Sales, Telemarketing, Sales-over-the-Telephone, and many other departments, at various companies, and the people that I know and myself all concur over the same thing: This is NOT a "Internet-service Provider is to blame for this issue" issue. This IS *NOT* a "your network is the problem, SniperJM007" issue. This is (all the possibilities and problems narrow down to this) a issue with the 1.15 (and now, 1.16) firmware-update itself. Plus, I have already downloaded in the past (and I just finished 1 more) several downloads that were each bigger than the 1432MB download that EA is asking me to download right now for Battlefield-4 (which is the "version 1.16" update) (at least, that's the download-size I'm given when I first see the notification that the download is starting to commence), and none of those other downloads have (nor had) EVER given me ANY problems WHATSOEVER. Including but-not-limited-to, when I was downloading them, and, when the downloaded-file(s) was[/were] installing.
