I had the same exact problem as you and could not find a solution for it at start. After fooling around with the game trying to find a way past the error that wouldn't let me get past the menu screen, I found something that worked for me. On the screen that says "Press Options to Play" I waited o nthat screen, went to a friend that was currently playing the game and joined their session. When it sais that I was unable to join, I quickly went to multiplayer and was able to then play the game without crashes. This may have only worked for me but it's worth a try. Turning off the PS4 didn't work and nobody had the correct answer for this.
