Re: AMD FX 8350 & Evga GTX 970 Low FPS/Usage

If I recall correct some issues with the 970 cards :/ I would just run the game on low video settings for now to get the FPS up as well as read toms hardware regarding this card. The only other thing I can think to try this second is to turn down the resolution scale in game to get the FPS up, I just looked it up and found this to back it up...... " in game and resolution scale decreases the fps at 150%" source: Scroll down to Best solution...  http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2555547/gtx970-fps-battlefield-low.html Edit ... try this... ingame under video... resolution scale to under 100 like 80 or 90 this will up you FPS

Edit just thought of this as well but it could just be a bad driver for the video card adding to this so if you want to try....

Video Card drivers and doing a clean install.Credit goes to aT1C for his steps

Note.. with the video card driver it installs so much junk :womanfrustrated: and some of it just makes issues so if you want it this is how I do my driver now as I have my BF fully stable and I want to keep it this way .

First I only install two things from it 1- Graphics Driver 2- PhysX System they can keep the rest :womanlol: See steps below.

This is how you do a clean graphic driver clean install:Credit goes to aT1C for his steps
Start by downloading your graphic card drivers from here,

AMD; http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
NVidia; http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Download the one you have and save it on desktop, you are going to need it!
After downloading the video card driver follow these instructions to the letter,

1- press windows button,

2- right click my computer,

3- press property’s, you will get a new window here.

4- in the new window click device manger on your left side of the screen, you will get another new window here,

5- you will see in the latest window a list of devices you have in your computer, click on the arrow beside Display driver and a small fall down menu will show you what kind of graphic card you have.

6- left click on your (graphic card name) so it’s highlighted in blue,

7- right click (graphic card name) and press property’s, you will get a new small window here,

8- in the new small window click on Drivers, you will see the name between the tabs,

9- in the driver menu click on uninstall, you will now get a really small window that ask you if you’re really sure that you want to uninstall you’re graphic card drivers,

10- click ok,

11- after you have uninstall you’re drivers restart you’re computer,

12- after you have started up your computer, click on your graphic card install file,

13- follow the instructions of your graphic card installer, Pick Custom / Advanced and only check off for Nvidia 1- Graphics Driver 2- PhysX System and for AMD card only check off display driver and catalyst control center.

14- when you have Install your graphic card drivers, restart / Reboot your computer,

Just tried that and got about the same fps and maybe a little less drops but I am not too sure. I guess Battlefield 4 is not the best with the 970 and FX 8350. I have been a level 16 for 4 months just trying to fix this issue so I can play comfortably. Thanks for all the help but I guess I might just have to check BF4 off the list of games that run bad on a 1300$ build which should run this just fine. Its very upsetting because BF4 was on of the games I was looking forward to playing.

If you take video card settings off ultra and go to med or low you should be able to play nicely.

    Exactly this @Cursed_img

You won't be able to play on Ultra. If you have windows 8.1, you'll be able to get a bit more.

  • I have upgraded to window 8.1. Also I would play on medium or low but that's just covering up the issue. See, I had a GTX 760 and ran at medium and low. Do you know how degrading it feels to have to play on the same setting once you upgraded your whole PC. Ever since I had my 760 I upgraded my Ram, CPU, Motherboard, and GPU. Yet I still have to run at the same setting.

    Old PC Specs:

    AMD FX 6300 - Upgraded to 8350

    8Gb 800mhz - Upgraded to 16gb 1600mhz Ram

    GTX 760 - Upgraded to 970

Gigabyte gigabyte ga-78lmt-usb3 - Upgraded to Asrock Fatal1ty 990fx Killer

With all those upgrades said and done you would think I should be able to run this game on ultra. Not to sound too extreme but if I just go on every game I own and put it on low or medium settings, I am basically covering up the situation. I should be able to run this game hands down on my build at 1080p. Not to mention someone replied to me on Nvidia's forums saying this:

I just want to get to the bottom of this issue. Not only for me but for my friend as well who has virtually the same specifications. I have spent hours looking through forum after forum to see if this issue was resolved for anyone else. My temps are fine, I overclocked, and upgraded almost every single item on my PC. I also know the whole lecture of how single core games do not fair well with FX processors but I know Battlefield 4 uses a lot more cores then most.

@Cursed_img I have similar specs that you have, there's a full list in my signature if you want to see it. I have tweaked a few settings to where i have lots of things disabled or set to low, the things that make the game look nice are set to high and one setting is on ultra, if you would like to try out the in game settings i use i can link a screenshot here of it. I always have well over 100 frames.

  • Wow your specs are very close to mine. Sure I will give it a shot. Also do you get around my FPS on ultra as well?
