Re: Battlefield 1942 Origin Will NOT Launch!

What version of Windows you are using? Depending on your operation system, you could try to run BF1942 in windows compatibility mode. Get sure that Origin.exe is added to the exception list of your antivirus/firewall software.

I'm using Windows Vista 32 bit. I turned Avast down to silent/gaming mode and made sure Battlefield 1942 was on the exception list already and Origin as well.  I tried to do comptability mode with it already in Windows XP and still wouldn't work. (Btw to make sure compatability mode is by clicking properties etc.?) I tried running everything as adminstator and it didn't work either. I disabled Origin in game and that didn't fix it.

It appears lots of people are having the exact same problem. Why aren't the people at EA and or Origin doing some more investigating considering the extent of this problem?

This company is a joke.  I first started playing Battlefield in the 1942 days and thought BF2 was one of the best games ever made.  BF2142 was great too.  Since then EA has been downhill.  I bought Battlefield Bad Company 2 which was a pain in the ass to setup and I was never able to get Battlefield 3 working on my PS3 and returned the game.  All of this after arguing with a bunch of idiots on customer service about how my code to play the game didn't work then they finally gave me another code which much to my chagrin also did not work.  EA hasn't been able to do absolutely anything right and I haven't tried to play any of their crap since.  I heard BF1942 was making a comeback online so I redownloaded Origin figuring that although EA manages to screw up every new game experience that they come out with, BF1942 is already a standard game so there's nothing for they to screw up.  Boy, was I wrong.  After trying everything I have found on the internet: deactivating my firewall entirely, running the computer in safe mode, running the exe as an administrator, repairing the game files, rebooting multiple times, running in compatibility mode.  There is no way to get this to work.  I tried talking to someone on LiveChat who I explained all the issues to in the first message.  He responded with no doubt a copy-pasted "Hello" 5 minutes later and a "I understand the issue" followed by "I will do my best to fix the issue" followed by absolute silence.  No doubt this guy is sitting in front of a screen clicking prewritten messages that have absolutely no meaning to really any situation.  He's also probably talking to 10 other people at the same time using pre-written messages that are completely out of context with people's problems and helping noone.  His solution to my problem after 20 minutes is since I have done all the troubleshooting already, I need to uninstall and reinstall Origin.  Oh I'm going to uninstall Origin alright.  Fool me once shame on you.  Fool me twice shame on me.  Never again will I bother with a game published by EA. As I'm typing this, I am uninstalling Origin for the last time. Never again, EA. Never again.

I too have started with BF2142 and went back with BF2. Both very very good. When I heard 1942 can be played for free, I knew it was too good to be true. Most of the problems in these forums is about different people having this very same issue. It's been days and weeks and EA still hasn't come up with any  answer despite the number of people experiencing this issue. No wonder EA was voted worst company of the year.

It's not depending on any Windows versions. It won't run in any compatibility mode or with administrator rights. Firewall exception won't help. The game is not simply working, there is a problem called EA 😕mileylol:

  • Why dont EA just release the disk version of the game (online) without the origin launcher on their website and just give out heaps of keys for the game until they can fix this mess that their in.... it would be much better for everyone who wants to play this awesome game. And yes i'm having the same issue - it just wont load ☹️
