Re: Battlefield1 stutter regularly

Are you on Windows 10? Windows 10 is forcing vsync on everything for me not only this game. I'm using a laptop with Optimus (integrated and discreet gpu) and even in "exclusive full screen" with vsync forced off in both settings and Nvidia control panel windows 10 is still forcing vsync on. It can easily be seen if you get the stutters and frame drops during intense moments. With vsync off we should get a screen tear instead of a stutter or a frame drop but instead frames are dropping and stuttering occurs which is worse in my opinion. Sure wish windows would stop trying to anticipate what's "best" for us. Hopefully there is a way to bypass the windows 10 control or at least provide an option setting in game that gives our display exclusively to the game so we can truly get vsync off.

Hi TyPennyb, Thank you for the hint. I indeed use windows 10. And I tried both vsync on/off inside the game settings: when on, fps drops from 60 to 20 as shown in the video. when off, fps drops from 100 to 40 but at the drop moment graphic still stutters. But this weekend I will try maybe install a win 7 to see if the issue can be solved.

no problem, i'm curious do you ever see a screen tear in windows 10?  i believe we are never truly getting vsync OFF completely in Windows 10 which results in this and other issues as well.  In full screen mode we should be able to get exclusive access to our displays, but it seems windows 10 is still providing an unwanted function.  If i can see one screen tear then i'll accept i'm wrong, but so far I can't produce even 1.  pls lemme know

so far as i observed I never see a screen tear in windows 10, I don't know should I expect one. I think the best way is the trial on win 7 at weekend and I will update here.

thanks for your reply, i cant get one either and that's not truly vsync off.  in full screen we should be given "exclusive" access to our screens but its clear windows 10 (be it the Desktop Window Manager or some other nuisance) is a major contributor to our problems that devs need to work around.  Here's hoping for a dev fix or some clever workaround  to get over w10 hindrances.
