You do not receive a product code when making purchases for your own account via Origin. The CD Key\product code is automatically applied to the purchasing account. The only way to remedy the situation is exactly what you did, contact a Game Advisor and cancel that transaction. Then log in with the account that you wish to purchase the game and repurchase.
If you don't want live chat use the "call me" function to speak with a game advisor.
