Re: BF4 How to change video settings outside of game?

The settings file is located in:

C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings

locate the file:

PROFSAVE_profile

Open that file in a texteditor like wordpad or the like.

    Just to make sure. You have downloaded the latest betadrivers from AMD/Nvidia that has just come out right?

  • Carbonic im having this problem right know.

    what do i do after i open it in a wordpad ?

    please answear me.

  • You ROCK!!  I was able to correct an issue where the game was launching in a window but wasnt visible, and when you tried to fullscreen it with ALT-ENTER it locked up, Cheers mate..

  • Hey guys,

    I think I got the same problem like you. Everytime I clicked on "video Settings" the game crashed and it said :"APPCRASH bf4.exe".  I couldn ´t change the videosettings ingame and even reinstall bf 4, graphic drivers or any other **bleep** you could just imagine didn ´t help. Anyway I found a solution for my problem.

    Open the "PROFSAVE_profil" file with texteditor in  /documents/Battlefield4/settings.

    After this delete all the stuff inside this and click "save"

    If you now start the game, it sets the values new and after this i could change my videosettings ingame again.

    So if anybody else got this problem that his game crashes if he selects "video settings". This might help.

    I had this same issue after setting it to ultra and it died on me.  I changed the

    GstRender.OverallGraphicsQuality 4

    to

    GstRender.OverallGraphicsQuality 0

    0 = Auto

    1 = Low

    2 = Medium

    3 = High

    4 = Ultra

    I was then able to start the game and tweak it.
