Re: BF4 stopped working on xbox360

Try this. Or some of the other steps in this article and let me know if anything works.

Corrupt files that are stored in your cache can also conflict with connecting to online servers.

To clear your console's cache:

  1. From the dashboard, click on My Xbox.
  2. Select System Settings.
  3. Select Storage.
  4. Highlight Hard Drive Device.
  5. Press Y to select Device Options, then Clear System Cache.
  6. Reboot your console.

Thanks, morningtimecloud. I am at work right now. I will try it later and report back. I'm guessing it will work. But I want to be sure to let you know I've been successful.

    Thanks again.

By the way, can you tell me why China Rising maps haven't come up when I play? I installed it a while back and I've yet to see or play on a China Rising map.

    Thanks.

After you try those steps i listed above try this: Delete all of the updates for BF4, clear your xbox cache, restart xbox then manually navigate from the Xbox dashboard to the Xbox live marketplace and search BF4 then download all of the recent updates. It's recommended to download them manually like this instead of from the BF4 store Menu as I've heard this has caused some issues. And if it asks you to pay for China rising then go into your recent downloads and get it from there.

Nope. It didn't work. I deleted and reinstalled the last two updates and I'm still getting the same error. Even after clearing the cache and rebooting the console. This isn't looking good. I've never had so much trouble playing a Battlefield game before. BF4 is so riddled with problems. I went and bought another copy of the game because of that "disc unreadable" thing.

What sucks is that I just upgraded my connection to 84MB down, 6MB up, with 19ms ping. I was looking forward to having a good time with my fast connection. Now, I can't even play.

Killcampers I haven't played since downloading Second Assault and the Update 7. But previously I had freezing problems on Dawnbreaker map and had twice lost my campaign progress on my xbox 360.

So I had followed the delete cache and BF4 data from my hard drive instructions and then re-installed from disc and only downloaded the update 6 that showed on screen and have not manually downloaded any other updates. I then re-installed the premium and china rising from the in game store(if you are not premium you may have to go to download history to reload china rising) when replaying multiplayer the game still froze on Dawnbreaker conquest so I avoid that  map now and have not experienced freezing anymore. I have not since replayed the campaign.

To play the china rising maps you have to select the server browser as they will not load from quick match option. Once in the server browser click right joy stick to bring up browser choises and navigate/check the map/game type you wish to play. Then exit to server menu and select the game server you which to play and hopefully you will be able to join the server.

My broadband is virgin 60mb Download, 3mb Upload, 12ms ping.

Did you delete all previous updates and than just install update 6? And you reinstalled the game files from disc?

Also, I've never seen anything in the server browser. Whenever I've looked there, there are never any servers showing. So, I have to choose the maps first in the server browser controls?

What I did after deleting the system cache was delete all game saved info from the hard disc by going to -

    System.

    Memory/storage.

    Hard disc.

    Games.

    BF4.

and deleted all saves, updates and expansions.

I then restarted the xbox and inserted the BF4 disc's which then showed an update which was update 6 at the time and followed instructions to download that update.

After the update was installed I went to the in-game store and re-downloaded Premium and China Rising.

I did not manually down load any other updates from the download history.

If you are not premium, you may have to re-download China Rising from your download history other wise you might be charged again for the map pack if you do it from the store or market place.

I haven't come across your server problem except when they put up the Second Assault options prior to allowing server access on xbox360 on the 18th for premium players.

If you leave all the browser options unchecked you should see all game types for all maps available for the map packs you have. At minimum you should see all the servers for the original BF4 maps and game modes.

On that since the release of Second Assault, according to some of the forum threads EA have stopped the Hardcore mode on all maps. This may be until they have rectified issues with those servers.

Personally I have only the maps for China Rising and Second Assault options checked in the server browser options, and when I wish to play the original maps just go - Quick match - Conquest (or which ever mode I want to play).

To sort your problem on lack of server visibility you may need to do a live chat with EA/DICE.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Thanks, customrider, I will try that approach. If it works just installing the latest update then it doesn't sound like its much of a headache after all. I too redownloaded China Rising from the in game store.

    I'll report back my experience.

Still not working. Should I delete and reinstall the HD content as well?
I deleted everything except the HD content.

    Killcampers,

Sorry to say it looks like your problem is beyond my experience.

If doing what morningtimecloud and I have suggested hasn't fixed your problem I don't know what else to advise.
