Re: Console Controllers no longer accurate from last patch?

@EnragedMarksman Hi, i know the patchnotes make some reference to changes to the aim assist, it sounds like this is a factor for you. I've copied the relevant parts below.

"Aim Assist
An update has also been made to the controller Aim Assist system in BF1. We now require the player to be actively giving aim input in order to get aim assistance. It was possible in some previous cases to get help on a target when simply strafing past them, which was unintentional. We’ve also exposed additional control options on console, including the ability to tweak the central dead zone. Please note that setting the dead zone too small may introduce unintentional aim movement. We have not made any adjustments to the snap-to-target feature of our Aim Assist. While we are aware there are players who are actively petitioning for the reduction or removal of Aim Assist, we feel that this would be to the detriment of the global player community. As this is an area of high passions, we expect additional feedback on our Aim Assist systems to surface, and we are open to that feedback. We are especially interested in appealing to those players who wish to play without assists, and are sensitive to their needs."

You can find some pretty in-depth tweaking options for your aim assist in the Controls menu, perhaps making tweaks or resetting to default values may help?

It may also help to double check that the aim assist is turned on within the Gameplay > Advanced menu.

Thanks for the post, I hope this helps with sorting out your aim assist.

trust me i looked at the patch notes, did a system restore, reinstalled the game, tweaked every single option in controller settings. And NOTHING fixed this atrocity of a "patch" game is unplayable using a controller on PC as infantry. miss stationary targets at 10m due to some * sensitivity bug that came along with this patch.i didnt get to lvl 78 and lvl 10 on all classes due to "Aim Assist" which only affected me when id aim at someone and another player would run past my ADS. So i assume you know Aim Assist and Sensitivity are two different things and my sensitivity has the one that took the hit from your "patch" game ran smoother and better prepatch for alot of people. Until this is fixed im not playing this game

would've been smarter to just give an option to switch aim assist on or off but thats beyond your devs comprehension i assume

    @EnragedMarksman

I saw this post passing by on Reddit the other day, i play on PC as well but i use keyboard and mouse for shooting. Haven't tested the stuff below when i would use my xboxcontroller like you do, but maybe it helps you.

There's a very good reason why your aim is off and it's not the changes to aim assist.

The main difference in aiming that you have noticed is the addition of 'stick dead zone' in the controller options. You'll find this setting in (controller options/advanced/stick dead zone).

On Xbox, 'stick dead zone' is now set at 22 by default and that setting makes aiming feel extremely slow and sluggish.

What I did to set it up was I joined an empty server by searching in the server browser for servers that have all spaces free. Then while in game, set the 'stick dead zone' to 0.

Now you will notice quite a lot of 'stick drift', but just keep going in and out of gameplay and settings and increase the 'stick dead zone' setting by 1-2 at a time until the stick drifting isn't present anymore.

Like mentioned, on Xbox it's set at 22 by default, but I have mine set at 12 now and my aiming is dramatically better then how my aiming was before the patch. Just be aware that the 'stick dead zone' setting will differ with different controllers, as with a brand new controller you will be able to get away with a much lower dead zone setting.

After setup, if you notice a tiny bit of stick drift still present during gameplay, then just increase the 'stick dead zone' setting by 1 unit only, and you will be set. (This will eliminate any small bit of stick drift that's still present, that's been missed during the initial setup, because even the tiniest bit of stick drift will throw off your aim).

So leave all aim assist settings on their default settings, but setup your 'stick dead zone' settings accordingly.

Now enjoy your new found ability to aim like a god

Lvl 112 on XBOX fairly accurate and do use Aim Assist. The Turning Tides Patch to Aim Assist is flat out aweful and I hav a post running about it as well “Aim Assist Not Working Post Turning Tides”. I don’t have a problem with some level of adjustment to AA but it had to be done much earlier on. Not over a year into the games launch. The new changes are also way to strong. Specifically the aiming for random body parts rather than chest. If this was a problem for scout weapons they should have made the changes exclusive, not holistic. Shot guns are now taking multiple shots inside their single hit kill zone. Seriously DICE theirs already so much to account for in this game (bullet drop, velocity, suppression effects). Not everyone has 8 hours a day to spend grinding this game to learn a completely new aiming system a year after launch. All 5 guys in my squad were complaining about the Aiming changes last night. If the goal is to attract new players to the community I don’t see how any of this will do that. Experienced players will get the advantage when it comes to dealing with changes to the Aiming system. New players will have a very difficult time dealing with experienced players in general but these changes will make it nearly impossible for them to enjoy the experience. Somehow, I don’t see most new players being willing to invest over 300 hours into the game like I did to get good. Please fix the Patch DICE.

You are telling us to forget everything we know about "muscle memory". This is nonsense. This is the way most of the players adapted into the game. Why do I need to restart my own settings since I have been using from begining? EA must fix this aim assit issue!!!!!
